Stakes Results Strangers Game claims his first stakes win in the G2 Colors of Texas Stakes
In a close race, Strangers Game earned his first stakes victory by a head on May 11 in the $18,100 G2 Colors of Texas Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas. His second win in as many starts this year, Strangers Game ran the 350-yard distance in :17.93. A 2009 sorrel tobiano stallion by Judys Lineage and out of Flaming Heroine, Strangers Game logged an 86 speed index—his best to date. Bred and owned by Merle Fulton of Lubbock, Texas, the 4-year-old earned $7,240 for the win, bringing his lifetime earnings to $21,698. Trained by Mike Robbins, the stallions was ridden by Luis Vivanco.
Making a late bid good for second place was Zoomin Moon, a 3-year-old gray solid Paint-bred mare by Shazoom (QH) and out of Moonpie Marauder. Finishing in :17.95, Zoomin Moon earned a speed index of 85 and $3,620 for owner/breeder Wendell Blankenship of Plainview, Texas. Trained by Gary Jacobs and piloted by Ricardo Aguirre, Zoomin Moon brought her lifetime earnings to $17,520. General Gordiz, a 4-year-old bay solid stallion, finished a length-and-a-half back in third, crossing the finish line in :18.18.
