Products Technology file Kit helps run and

test motion systems New from LG Motion is a plug and play evaluation kit based around Arcus Technology’s DMX-J-SA series, NEMA 17 frame sized, integrated microstep motor + control + drive. This is aimed at OEMs and machine builders wishing to assess the benefits of Arcus’ integrat- ed motor technology, and users who have simple single axis stepper require- ments and wish to purchase all ancillary and machine interfacing components from a single source. The package features USB 2.0 con-

nectivity and includes everything required to run and test a single axis motion system, including a 24V, 3A power supply, a USB cable, program- ming and set-up software, and a junction board complete with LEDs, pushbuttons and screw terminals that interface with the DMX’s complement of opto-isolated I/O (2 x inputs, 2 x outputs), and limit and home inputs, claims the company. The complete DMX range includes 11,

17 and 23 frame integrated motors with a choice of communication interfaces for RS232/485, CANopen, USB and Ethernet, as well as step + direction models. LG Motion T: 01256 365600

Manufactured by Performance Motion Devices of Massachusetts, the Atlas Digital single-axis motion amplifiers can be used with brushed and brushless DC motors, and also with stepper motors, and offer high performance control of velocity and position in an ultra compact package. Available from INMOCO, these feature user programmable gain parameters, performance trace, field

oriented control, and current management. They are powered from a single supply voltage, and provide automatic protection from over- current, under-voltage, over-voltage, over-temperature, and short circuit faults. The design allows both vertical and horizontal mounting configu- rations, with and without heat sink attachments. The Atlas family has been designed to work with PMD’s Magellan

family of Motion Processor ICs (integrated circuits), or they can be used with dedicated FPGAs, digital signal processors, or general purpose microprocessors. Communication is via an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) using a simple, packet-oriented protocol. Suitable applications are in precision pick and place in scientific

instruments and automated laboratory equipment, and precision motion control systems in a wide range of general actuation and positioning applications. They can also be used in rotary motion scenar- ios in HVAC, fan and pump controllers, and industrial motor control applications. INMOCO

Cable protection Cables and hoses are completely protected with the RX e-tube series from igus. The energy chain has a contoured design that is injection moulded from igumid G tribo-plastic mater- ial and all pin and bore connec- tions are covered. This creates a smooth and completely sealed profile, preventing ingress of chips, dirt, debris or moisture. The RX e-tube is available with

customised guide troughs that guide long travels of the energy chains, and interior separators to hold the cables and hoses in place securely. An ‘RBR’ reversed bending radius version is also available for two-dimensional and rotational movements. igus www.igus.co.uk

Enter 240 Mini hub connects devices to a USB port

New to B&B Electronics’ family of industrial-grade USB 2.0 hubs is the UH104, a four-port USB hub used to connect multiple periph- eral devices to a single USB port. Powered by the host USB port, it

provides downstream devices with 100 mA of power and High Speed USB connectivity at 480 Mbps. Measuring just 6.1 x 4.45 x 2.79cm, this can be mounted easily in harsh environments and features a rugged ABS plastic housing, built- in mounting tabs, a -40 to 80˚C operating temperature, and the company’s high-retention USB connectors.

38 The UH104 is primarily for

industrial automation, instrumen- tation, security, kiosks, point- of-sale and laboratory market applications. It is also suitable for industrial EN61000-6-1 harsh environments. B&B Electronics Manufacturing www.bb-europe.com Enter 242

Security zone protects critical data Modulsafe Level E is an enhanced version of Rittal’s Safe platform and is suitable for critical data that requires total protection. Creating a complete security zone around a 19in rack, this will keep practically any physical threat at bay, claims the company.

Fieldbus module now with ‘fast start-up’

Murrelektronik’s tough fieldbus module, MVK Metal with 7/8” connection, is now available with Fast Start-Up and galvanic separation. Fast Start-Up provides the shortest possible setup and start-up times. On automotive assembly lines there are many robots that have to perform multiple

tasks. Each separate task requires a change in their tools, and these connecting and reconnecting processes need to be carried out in the shortest time possible, Therefore, the time between connecting power to the robot and the first cyclic data exchange has to be as short as possible. With the integrated ProfiNet function Fast Start-Up, or FSU, MVK meets the demanding require- ments for start-up times: within 400ms of a tool change, the module is operating. The module has a solid zinc die-cast housing

making it resistant to weld spatter, oils and lubri- cants; and each module is fully potted, making it resistant to shock and vibration. A screwed-in metal back plate protects the potting and keeps elec- tromagnetic interference to a minimum. In addition, the 7/8” connections are a guarantee for a perfect seal, claims the company.
