Solutions for highly accurate detection
Designed for where high accuracy of detection is critical, the PD30CN miniature photo- electric sensors from Carlo Gavazzi includes the latest technology in background sup- pression, which improves accu- racy of the detection of colours. It has a sensing range of 200mm, diffuse reflective, retro-reflective, with or without polarisation and through beam sensors which are used to detect objects either by reflection or interruption of the emitted light beam. The background suppression
model uses active pixel sensor’s (APS) CMOS array of 64 x 1 sensor with each pixel represent- ing a specific position. Carlo Gavazzi

There are 13 standard models in the Riftek RF603HS series laser triangulation sensor range, providing mea- surement ranges from 2mm up to 1250mm. Available from Ixthus Instrumentation, these IP67 rated sensors are designed for position or displacement measurement of target objects in fast moving high- throughput processes and events where capture frequency is critical. These have a frequency response
up to 180 kHz, and a frequency depen- dant linearity rating of 0.1% of full scale at 56 kHz and 0.3% at 180 kHz. For resolution, the specification varies from 0.1% of the range at 56 kHz and 0.3% at 180 kHz. Temperature drift is less than 0.02% per ˚C over the full range.
Laser triangulation sensors for position or displacement measurement The added benefit of a blue UV wavelength
option in addition to the industry standard 600nm red laser allows best performance when used to track the motion of high temperature objects such as hot-glowing metals as well as organic and translucent materials. Data transfer is via Ethernet using the User Data Protocol (UDP). RS232 or RS485 serial interfaces are used for parameter setting. The operating temperature range spans -10˚C to +60˚C with options for a built-in heater to extend the
lower range to -30˚C; or air-cooled housings for high temperature environments to +120˚C. Ixthus Instrumentation T: 01327 353437

Modular resistance thermometers and thermocouples New to Siemens Industry’s temperature sensor range is the SITRANS TS family of resistance thermometers and thermocouples. Modular in design, the line offers a large range of sizes, materials, sensors and transmitters, and supports HART, PROFIBUS PA and Foundation Fieldbus. It is also certified under ATEX and IECEx. There are three product lines in the family, all of which are suitable for a wide range of applications in the process industry, such as
chemicals, oil, gas and power. The SITRANS TS100 and TS200 product series are available as cable and compact thermometers, suiting them to universal use, such as detecting the temperatures of machine bearings. The compact insertion thermometers can also be used in confined spaces, and their mineral insulated design makes them not only flexible, but also resistant to vibrations and high temperatures up to +1,100˚C. The TS500 product line is designed for applications with low to high process stresses. A
wide range of process connections, connection heads, sensor types, transmitters and displays can be used to configure individual solutions for a process. Siemens
