Former ODAFF Investigator Joins TSCRA as Special Ranger

ORMER OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FOOD AND FORESTRY (ODAFF) Investigator Kent Dowell joins the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) as a special ranger for District 3 in


Oklahoma. Dowell replaces Paul Cornett. District 3 includes Caddo, Canadian, Carter, Cleveland, Comanche,


Custer, Garvin, Grady, Hughes, Johnston, Kiowa, Love, Marshall, Mc- Clain, Murray, Oklahoma, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Seminole, Stephens, and Washita counties. “Kent is an experienced law enforcement offi cer with a particular


expertise in livestock and agriculture crimes,” said Larry Gray, TSCRA executive director of law enforcement and theft prevention. “His deep Oklahoma roots and his love for the ranching industry make


him a great asset to our organization. We welcome him to TSCRA and look forward to working with him.” Dowell has more than 16 years of law enforcement experience. He served


as an ODAFF special agent, where he specialized in agriculture crimes, 85 percent of which were cattle thefts. Dowell worked closely with ranchers and other law enforcement offi cials to help locate and recover stolen cattle. Prior to his time at ODAFF, Dowell served as a Lieutenant for the


Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police; an offi cer at the Oklahoma City Po- lice Department; and a Drug Task Force Field Supervisor in the District Attorney’s offi ce in Shawnee. Dowell is based in Holdenville, Okla., and can be reached at 405-941-

Milam County Man Charged With Second Degree Cattle Theft

BURLINGTON MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED with 1 count of felony livestock


theft and 1 count of misapplica- tion of fi duciary property after he turned himself in to Milam County authorities April 24.

William J. (Jim) Crennan, 55,


was charged after he allegedly failed to deliver 230 head of cattle owned by a Panhandle feedyard company. TSCRA Special Rangers Marvin Wills and Hal Dumas led the investigation. Wills said the investigation is


ongoing at this time, but that more charges could be fi led.


Crennan is in the Milam County


jail on bond of $15,000. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in pris- on and a $10,000 fi ne per charge. TSCRA would like to thank Mi-


lam County Sheriff David Greene, Milam County Chief Deputy Chris White and Milam County District Attorney Bill Torrey for their help with the investigation.
