The Mosquitoes Have Landed! O

Central Florida's Premier Yoga Studio

r at least they are on their way. Bug experts from the University of Florida say a species of mega-mosquito called a “gallinipper” could invade Central Florida as fl ood waters from tropical storms force the larvae to hatch. Look out! Many people are unaware that insect protection products on the market today contain harmful man-made chemicals such as DEET and pyrethrins. These substances remain in the environment and cause damage to humans, animals,

water supplies, soil, and important pollinating insects such as bees. At Nature in Beauty in Winter Park’s Hidden Gardens, a new certifi ed organic bug repellent serum attracts love bites and repels bug bites without the harmful chemicals! Profoundly unique from the often unpleasant smelling, citrus and citronella scents we have grown to expect, this insect-fi ghting blend is enjoyable to wear and 100% DEET-free. Pair this with the refreshing and hydrating Certifi ed Organic Bug Repellant

Perfume Spray for enhanced therapeutic benefi ts. It is fi lled with fragrant top notes of fl owery geranium, refreshing peppermint and herbaceous lemongrass, complemented with warm and woodsy notes of cedar and clove. Rosemary and citronella provide fullness for a truly enjoyable aromatic experience. It’s hard to imagine such a wonderful fragrance repels bugs! You’ll just have to stop by Hidden Gardens (348 Park Avenue North, #6) and smell for yourself! Tel: 407-274-2217.

his special event, known as the Southern Tier Cross Country Bike Tour began March 8 in San Diego.

Participants (most of whom were older than 50) rode to Dog Beach and dipped their bike tires in the Pacifi c Ocean. They then set off cross country; their goal was St. Augustine, Florida.

A number were riding for good causes (i.e. leukemia, ALS, wheelchairs for Brazil, a Wisconsin hike/bike trail); some bikers signed up just to prove they could. And most of the group made it. On May 2 the intrepid women rode into Anastasia

State Park (St. Augustine) with a police escort. They dismounted and in celebration dipped their bike tires in the Atlantic. Their dream had come true. Central Florida resident and retired fi re- fi ghter Mel Brill is pictured above. Way to Go, Mel Brill!
