Gathering Waterfront looks forward to the most glamorous event of the summer season

ore than 360 prestigious venues around the world are to play host to the second instalment of Te Global Party this

summer. Over the course of one breathless weekend at the end of June, more than 360,000 of the world’s jet set will party in the most opulent settings, raising millions for worthy causes in the process. Supermodels such as Lily Cole will clink

champagne flutes with the likes of billionaire hedge funder Arpad Busson and partner Uma Turman, among a sea of celebrities and socialites the world over. Heralded by the Daily Telegraph as “the social event of the decade,” Te Global Party was first staged in 2011, at such eclectic venues as London’s Natural History Museum, the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, the Orient-Express and Te Marbella Club. Inspired by Phileas Fogg, more than 80 parties were held around the globe, with over 80,000 VIPs in attendance, and entertainment provided by musicians such

as Macy Gray and Bryan Ferry. Te second event will be all the grander, with

more than 120 major cities hosting parties, to the benefit of their chosen local charities and Te Global Party Trust. Confirmed venues for this year’s event

include the ‘eco-friendly’ Greenhouse nightclub in New York, Caffè Centrale, Venice and Shanghai’s M1NT – a venue with one of the highest volume of Dom Perignon sales in the world. Dozens more iconic locations will be revealed at Te Global Party press launch this May. A total of eight parties will take place around the UK, including locations in Manchester, Edinburgh and Bournemouth, with the details to be confirmed imminently. Te Global Party will officially launch with

an exclusive dinner for 100 select guests at Te Savoy Hotel from 7pm on Wednesday, 26th June and wrap up at a soon-to-be-announced LA hotspot in the early hours of Sunday 30th June – concluding over 90 hours of continuous partying. Te entire event will be captured

contemporaneously on Te Global Party website. Attendees can secure a place at one of the

parties by making a donation of £500 or more directly to Te Global Charity Trust. Tis will entitle the patron and guest to attend the party of their choosing. Guests will also receive a ‘Champagne for Life’ privilege or Key-2 Luxury Mobile, offering recipients a lifetime of various high-end freebies, discounts and VIP access. Despite the significant outlay required, invitation to this year’s Global Party is still slightly more attainable than the original event, when it required several thousand pounds for an exclusive key to the Party. Charity funds will also derive from 20% of the respective bar takings, auctions and raffles on the night. David Johnstone, CEO and co-founder of Te Global Party, told Waterfront he believes this year’s event could raise anything up to £5m for various charities. He said: “Tis year each venue has to choose a local children’s charity. Some venues will make
