C&ME interurbans Thanks for the great article about the C&ME interurbans in the March, 2013, issue. It is excellent historical work and the drawings are outstanding. Finding the material at Illinois Railway Muse- um’s Strahorn Library Pullman files was a stroke of great luck. The photo on page 55 was a real bonus for me. Coupled behind the 19 at Highwood is tool car 3003, a favorite of mine. It was a boxcar with a trolley pole on one end. The pole was used to collect current for, no doubt, an air compressor and probably an electric arc welder and other electric power

VALVE, Joe Stetson commented that the pulpwood load modeled in the Novem- ber, 2012, RMC article “Two for the load” would lack stability and couldn’t be correct. His assessment is likely ac- curate; however, the load was based on a photo from Railway Age magazine. It shows a string of PRR G22 40-foot gen- eral service gons loaded as modeled. The photograph was submitted with the article to show the load was based on a prototype. A different photo was substituted in the article, probably be- cause the original was somewhat fuzzy.
