xiting the tube at Oxford Circus with two large portfolios and a suitcase, I attempted to navigate through the hustle and bustle of the crowds on

Regent Street. I was en-route to Conduit Street where I was to meet clients in their board offi ce to present my concepts. T ese clients were high profi le and with only ever meeting them twice, I had to be like a sponge to absorb as much as possible about their lifestyle, the cars they drive, the jewellery they wear and the places they like to visit, to help build my profi le for conceptual design, colours and interior furnishings for their new home in North London. I had 16 interior mood boards with samples of

fabrics and furniture with new conceptual layouts radically changing the house layout. I was very excited by this project as this was a special brief - a house that was to be a lifestyle home yet to have elements of formality for large formal state dinners and business meetings. T e clients loved it...it was a great day! Now

the real challenge began. T e project was being undertaken by the exclusive development company, T e Richland Group, who primarily work with high end clients all over the world developing homes and commercial properties in many countries. T eir challenge was to deliver this house completely re-designed, re-built and complete with a full interior fi t out within just six months. It was high pressure but working with a great team of professionals and project managed by Bruce Shaw, we began to work on creating the vision shared in the board room. T e new collections by KenzoMaison had just been launched in Paris at the January Maison Objet design fair so the ideas were inspiring. T e lifestyle concept of the house was to have, energy, colour and a playful element to it alongside cutting edge technology and innovative kitchen design. In the kitchen the new Geometric wall

covering by Cole & Son was to be our starting point. Compressing the paper between glass it was our back drop for the kitchen. T e new embroidered curtain silk fabrics by Elitis France dressed the living space relating the kitchen to it. We dressed the room with Kenzo Maison. T e fabrics and colours by Kenzo were so beautiful. It really is true, fashion leads the way and this was a perfect example. T e lifestyle of the room was really something and the quality of the product was special. In an equal yet diff erent way of sumptuous

styling, the offi ce and lounge took on a completely new feeling. T e richness carried through but this room was at the front of the house in the original part of the building so the more mature feel worked both in function and look. T e luxurious new damask silk by Zimmer & Rohde dressed the window. T is fabric is a great example of how a traditional damask has been taken, re-scaled, simplifi ed and re-coloured to create a new concept of interior colour palettes and style. A richness of beautiful woods were used to give the room depth and further texture. T e master suite was the biggest risk but also the biggest reward. My lead designer who co-ordinated the project really encouraged this colour palette and, my goodness, it is lush. A combination of metallic glass wall covering by Omexco, Belgium and Swarovski fl ocked papers give this room such grandeur, complemented by the silk carpet giving lots of refl ection to the space. T e midnight blue colour palette accented in the upholstery lifts the space, giving it a three dimensional feel. Feature armchairs in cream cut velvet by Zinc are part of the new collection by Christopher Guy, an inspirational designer of furniture. T e upholstery is a wonderful contrast with the back drop of the Sahco silk draw curtains in the chocolate and blue colours. T e devil is in the detail in a project of this

size and we got the opportunity to consider all elements of detail down to the cushions, table settings, art and fl owers in the house. As we manufacture all our curtains, cushions and throws in-house, we were able to make this a unique fi nishing element of Kris Turnbull Studios. Interior fabrics by Christian Lacroix, Missoni, and Elitis took the theme in the fi fth, sixth and seventh guest bedrooms which were located on the third fl oor of the house. T ese spaces were to be more casual and relaxed so the colour and playfulness from the lifestyle living space on the ground fl oor came back into theme. Bedroom six features the new collections by Elitis. Accent colours from the recessed blinds and sheers are brought into the feature chairs by Leolux, lamps by PortaRomana and cushions and bed throws made in-house giving the space a feeling of completeness. T is house is really a home and perfect for

the client’s needs while living and working in London. I was so pleased with how this exciting project came together. T e client’s delight, appreciation and love for their new home made this project truly special.
