The Fishpool Inn
pub, T e Fishpool has recently undergone a dramatic renovation. Entering the T e Fishpool I was immediately
T
enveloped by the welcoming warmth, subtle lighting and the wonderful aroma from the log burning open fi res, transported into a hunting lodge from a bygone era. I took in the friendly bustling atmosphere and the stunning interior, where no expense has been spared, and admired the intricate attention to detail. As we waited to be seated we had a drink at the intimate cosy bar area, which off ered a selection of Sunday papers if you wished to relax in the cosy alcove in front of the fi re. Ten minutes later we were shown to our table in the main dining area which was illuminated by glass doors off ering a wonderful country view. I noted the softly lighted main bar area with a slightly modern take, which looked
he Fishpool Inn is the latest addition to the family owned Cheshire based hotel group Nelson Hotels. Formerly a quaint country
very inviting, as well as the open kitchen, a hive of activity and the heart of your culinary experience. I sank into the armchair eager to look at the menu, which off ers British and European fare. Spoilt for choice from the reasonably priced dishes on off er, for which the ingredients are sourced locally, I opted for the creamy garlic wild mushrooms with fi ne herbs and truffl es accompanied with toasted ciabatta. My husband chose the Loch Duart smoked salmon served with capers, shallots, grated egg and crème fraiche. We were not to be disappointed. T e portions were very generous and absolutely delicious. I eagerly anticipated the main course of Inka grilled spiced salmon fi llet, gratin potatoes, charcoal grilled vegetables and balsamic roasted tomatoes, while my husband opted for the Inka grilled 10 oz steak burger with a choice of cheeses and red onion jam and served with chunky chips. T e main course arrived on hot plates, which all restaurants should adhere to and, cooked to perfection, did not disappoint.
We sat back completely satisfi ed with a
look that said “no” to desert...which lasted approximately two minutes having glanced at the desert menu. “T e diet starts tomorrow,” I told myself, as I decided on the lemon and lime tart while my husband plumped for the apple and cinnamon crumble accompanied with homemade custard. T e Fishpool Inn delivers everything and
more from the most attentive warm staff to the excellent food and ambience. In fact we enjoyed the experience so much we took the rest of the family the following Sunday for lunch.
