A Moment with Momentum Instore

SCIENCE FICTION OR RETAIL FACT? by Tim Ellis

I doubt very much that there’s one retailer or brand in the UK at the moment who is not either currently taking advantage of the benefits offered by new retail technology or considering doing so.

With the pace of change however many retailers are struggling to keep up with new technology. There are so many options available that it is difficult to know which will truly make a difference to the bottom line. Yes an app might bring you into the 21st century but is it appropriate for your target audience?

This is the quandary that brands and retailers face. Do they risk looking out of date in the wider market and stick to more traditional retail methods or step on the technology conveyor belt, investing substantial sums to keep up with the newest trends.

And just as retailers and brands are starting to suffer from technology fatigue, are customers also? Ultimately there is no substitute for good service, exceptional quality and value for money– new technology needs to support and enhance these, not replace them.
