Latest Precision Waterjet Technology MWX4 waterjet machines combine speed, accuracy and

reliability in multiple axes cutting with new servomotor-driven Taper Control System. It provides greater A-axis tilt angle and unlimited rotating angle C axis for cutting straighter parts in thicker material. Machines feature Mitsubishi M730 CNC controller, joystick positioning and full keyboard and a stan- dard garnet removal system. Metamation software is included with True-Shape Nesting and CAD/CAM. Positioning speed is 687 ipm (22 m/min), and the machine features a pressurized abrasive hopper with 670-lb (304-kg) capacity. A submerged cutting system is built into the tank’s design. MWX4 machines are available in multiple sizes. The X4-612 has XYZ travels are 72 × 144 × 8" (1829 × 3658 × 200 mm). The pump is available in 60 hp (44.7 kW) and 90,000 psi (6205 bar) standard and 125 hp (93 kW) at 125,000 psi (8618 bar). MC Machinery Systems Inc. Springulator Spring Calculator App The new Springulator spring calculator app from Newcomb Spring Corp. (Decatur, GA) is now available through the App Store as an iPhone and iPod application. The app calculates data for six different spring types and provides an extensive array of calculated results data. It is also the only free spring calculator available in the App Store. By entering a minimal amount of data, the Springulator calculates and tests the capabili- ties of a spring design, and is a useful tool for engineers, design- ers and purchasing agents. The Springulator can provide calculations for extension springs, torsion springs and four types of compression springs: one-load, two-load, rate-based and dimen- sional. The application provides users with the data necessary to

ensure proper spring functionality including stress tolerances, corrected stress, loads at multiple heights, and deflection, as well as information that is helpful in ordering, including part weight and e-mailable results. The Springulator currently oper- ates in iOS 3 and higher on iPhone and iPod Touch devices, and iPad and Android versions of the application are currently in development. The Springulator is also available as a web-

Gang Tool Turning Center Quest Super-Precision GT27 gang-tool turning centers are designed for machining small diameter, complex and tight- tolerance parts, like medical device applications. The GT27 offers a continu- ous machining accuracy of 0.0002" (0.005 mm) on diam- eter, part round- ness variation of 0.000015" (0.0004 mm) and part surface finish of 8 micro- inch. Bar work up to 1 1/16"

(27 mm) and chucked parts up to 4" (101.6 mm) in diameter (using a step chuck) can be machined. The GT27 features patented interchangeable top plate and quick-change collet-
