The International Materials Handling Exhibition IMHX 2013 takes place on 19-22 March at the NEC in Brimingham showcasing thousands of innovative intralogistics solutions
T
his year IMHX 2013 will feature over 400 exhibitors, many of which will use the show as the launch pad for new products and
services. Visitors will enjoy an infor- mative and exciting experience, with a number of feature areas as well as free conference sessions, product launches, live demonstrations and prize competitions.
The IMHX Logistics Excellence Conference will feature a series of seminars at strategic level delivered by renowned industry experts, while the IMHX Logistics Case Study Conference will offer presentations that demonstrate best practice from a range of blue-chip companies. The exhibition will be opened by world land speed record breaker, Richard Noble OBE, in front of his latest record-attempting vehicle, the jet- and rocket-powered Bloodhound SSC (SuperSonic Car) – which is spon- sored by Linde Material Handling – in the show's first ever Skills & Apprenticeships Zone.

As well as brand-new areas – including the UKWA 3PL Zone, hosted by the United Kingdom Warehousing Association, and the International Visitors' Lounge – many features will make a welcome return to the show. The Design 4 Safety Competition will be held once again, recognising the importance of product design in improving safety throughout the mate- rials handling industry.
The winners in seven award cate- gories will be celebrated in the Design 4 Safety Zone at the show and visitors will be invited to vote for an overall ‘People's Choice’ award.
The heats of what promises to be another hotly contested RTITB Operator of the Year Competition will also take place at IMHX. Over the four days of the show, forklift operators from across the UK and Ireland will compete in a special arena, with the best then moving forward to the grand final in September.

IMHX will once again feature the AMHSA Pavilion, hosted by the Automated Material Handling Systems Association, with a number of AMHSA member stands clustered around a hospitality and presentation area in which members will give short ‘Meet the expert' talks on key automa- tion topics. Finally, the exclusive VIP valet parking scheme will operate once again, allowing top executives to drive straight up to the show's entrance, have their vehicle parked securely by a professional driver and enjoy access to the VIP Lounge with complimentary refreshments and Internet facilities.

Material Handling Systems Association (AMHSA) exhibiting at IMHX, logistics automation will be well

Many of these automated handling suppliers will be clustered in and around the AMHSA Pavilion in Hall 19 of the show. As well as providing an exclusive area for hos- pitality, the AMHSA Pavilion will feature a small presentation theatre in which visitors can benefit from 15-minute ‘Meet the Expert' talks on a range of automation topics. “IMHX provides our members with a fantastic opportunity to meet prospective buyers of automated solutions and also to network with their existing customers. As the voice of the automated handling indus- try, AMHSA is seeking to educate as many visitors as possible about the benefits of automation and answer any queries.” The presentations feature a range of subjects including Augmented Reality Systems, Smart Procurement, Software as a Service and Automated Guided Vehicles. Special guest speaker, Tony Ventrella, a barrister and legal director at Ventrella Associates will share his commercial and legal expertise on MF/1 in relation to auto- mated handling projects, as well as on the topic of letters of intent.
UKWA members centred in Pavilion O
ne attractions at IMHX will be the United Kingdom Warehousing Association third party logistics Pavilion. (Hall 17) With over 600 member companies, UKWA’s members control nearly 100 million square feet of warehousing space from 1,300 locations across the UK. The Pavilion will showcase products and services offered by UKWA members and associate members. The Pavilion will be centered around a hospitality area where visitors can learn more about the workings of the UKWA and the benefits of joining. Visitors will be able discuss their logistics or materials handling needs with UKWA Pavilion exhibitors away from the bustle of the exhibition. UKWA embraces all companies that provide warehousing or other logistics support services in the supply chain and is open to retailers and manufacturers as well as companies from out- side the UK. The Association also has over 100 Associate Members – companies that supply products or services to the warehousing and logistics community.
