Expert-Exmac partnership installs second Jaguarlandrover Sunroof Cell

Strategic Partnership with Shoplogix

utoCoding Systems has recently announced a strategic partnership with Shoplogix, leading developer of manufacturing performance management solutions.

A Experienced systems

integrator, AutoCoding Systems, has over 10 years’ experience in the FMCG sector offering automation solutions across packaging line operations. Their products comprise a proven range of modular applications, from entry level coding and packaging integrity solutions through to complete set-up and control of all packaging line devices, such as coders, barcode scanners, labellers, metal detectors, check weighers and vision solutions.

The business benefits

offered by AutoCoding Systems’ packaging line solutions include increased speed and reliability of line set-up, reduced job changeover time, reduced risk of human error, and the ability to manage packaging complexities.

The Shoplogix solution, facilitating the

visualisation of manufacturing KPI data, is a natural extension of the AutoCoding product. The Shoplogix solution enables companies to identify and evaluate where problems,

constraints exist within their processing and packaging applications.

AutoCoding Systems announces a

Tooling/Exmac Automation partnership has completed a similar system to install sunroofs for the new Range Rover Evoque and Freelander 2 at the JaguarLandRover Halewood plant.

Because the Evoque features a new

roof rather than a Freelander carry- over, the existing Halewood system was replaced with an automated cell to accommodate three variants – new three door and five door Evoque models and Freelander 2. The partnership – Expert specialising in robotics,

precision

tooling and gluing; and Exmac in conveying, automation and control – was awarded the contract on a combination of value, experience and technology, which best met existing production needs and avoided disruption to ongoing or future assembly operations. The Exmac system, which combines accumulator conveyors and powered roller-beds, accommodates six vehicle platens. The middle roller-bed of the power roller conveyor also incorporates a clamping, lifting and centralising mechanism to fix the car in the optimum position for the Expert vision system, which locates the roof fixing holes for the robot-controlled insertion system, also designed by Expert. Whilst the flowing lines of the Jaguar XJ prevented the use of a vision system to position its roof, Evoque and Freelander sunroofs are located using pins and proved ideal candidates for the camera- based system and enabled a sunroof to be fitted every 85 seconds. Commenting for Exmac, managing director Gary Sweeney says: “We are delighted that a second successful partnership with Expert has helped create another exciting new vehicle for JaguarLandRover.”

laxon Signals has developed a new range of fire signalling devices that ensure no one is left behind in a fire emergency. Sonos Pulse fire beacons and sounder beacons emit a high-

brightness pulsating light, complying with the new European standard EN54-23 for visual alarm devices. By using light, Sonos Pulse beacons reach those who may be audibly impaired, or those working in noisy environments, achieving effective evacuation. Pulse Alert Technology disperses light evenly, providing maximum coverage using minimal consumption. Sonos Pulse devices are designed to fulfil evacuation requirements with just a single device for most rooms, reducing costs and increasing energy efficiency. Sonos Pulse devices use the same base connections as previous models; upgrading existing systems to use EN54-23 compliant products is typically a simple process EN54-23 specifies the minimum performance requirements for visual alarm devices. Klaxon Signals has exceeded these requirements, ensuring all personnel are alerted in a fire emergency.

Rusmail & OCA’s handling solution helps next keep its delivery promises

o keep pace with a major expansion of its online retail operations in Doncaster, Next tasked Rusmail Conveyor Systems & OCA* to develop a solution for handling sacks of parcels ready for despatch to its stores and customers’ homes. The resulting overhead conveyor system equates to over a mile of conveyors capable of loading,

sorting and directing the sacks to specific off-loading points to enable fulfilment of the promise for orders placed before 9pm to be delivered the next day. Rusmail worked in close collaboration with OCA its French partner which supplied the overhead conveyor. This is the first time Next has used this type of conveyor. The project covered the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of 6 conveyor loops of varying lengths each with a cable driven overhead conveyor equipped with hooks and special sack recognition devices. The bespoke system also incorporated automatic unloading systems, stainless steel drop-off chutes and fully integrated PLC based inverter speed control systems.

New High Grade Inclinometer

enter 821

ensors UK announce the introduction of the all new Seika NA2-05 range of capacitive dielectric liquid based inclinometers, incorporating new highly stable laser-trimmed signal conditioning. The electronics offer improved compensation for temperature drift, highly stable supply voltage regulation circuitry and low pass filtering to eliminate unwanted noise. The NA2 requires minimal power and, with a capacitive primary transformer, is characterised by low errors, high signal-to-noise ratio and very high long-term stability. All models are ideal for measurements requiring small light devices,

S replacability,

measurement of inclination from ±5º to a large ± 70º, and a normalised analogue output signal. Applications examples include measurement of inclination in measuring instruments and inspection equipment. In land and air vehicles, in automation and safety technology. On cranes, robots, and in the manufacture of scientific equipment. In medicine and telecommunications, as well as navigation systems.
