Force and Torque testing for the automotive industry
ecmesin has announced the release of a new brochure showcasing the force and torque testing solutions the company offers automotive component suppliers and OEM vehicle manufacturers.

parameter. With two sanitary tri clamp flange sizes available, the sterilizable sensors are ideal for food, pharmaceutical and other contamination-sensitive services where sanitary connections are desired. The sanitary CS615 Conductivity sensor from Sensorex monitors process fluids. The 316 stainless steel construction withstands both cleaning in place and steam sterilization processes up to 130°C. Two models are available for 1”-1.5” and 2” tri clamp flanges.

For compatibility with a number of
instrumentation models, both sizes come with optional automatic temperature compensation (ATC). Pt1000, Pt100, or user specified ATC values are available. Cell constants offered with the CS316 are 0.01, 0.1 and 1.0 which allow the sensors a wide measurement range in most applications from pure water to general industrial use. Special cell constants are available on request. The sensors come with a 10 foot cable with tinned wire terminations for connection to process monitoring instrumentation.

o provide even more complete levels of service to its customers, expert spring, bent wire form and assembly manufacturer, William Hughes Ltd, has installed a state-of-the-art, automated passivation plant at its UK headquarters in Stalbridge, Dorset. The move will not only reduce the significant lead- time incurred by subcontracting this requirement, but will enable the company to provide another Nadcap process for aerospace customers. “The decision to start thinking about passivation came about because one of our significant aerospace customers ceased this activity,” explains Special Processes Manager, Shaun Tattershall. “As a result we began investigating various plant options and initiated a request for processing approval from our major aerospace customer.” Mr Tattershall was successful in sourcing machinery that was designed and manufactured to William Hughes’ precise requirements and offered optimised control of the process in line with AMS 2700.

New EE300Ex transmitter for intrinsically safe industrial applications
he new EE300Ex humidity and temperature transmitter from E+E Elektronik is designed for challenging industrial applications. The device complies with the ATEX Directives for intrinsically safe equipment, and can be employed in both hazardous and explosive gas and dust areas in zones 0 / 20. Thanks to its easy-to-clean, elegant stainless steel housing, the humidity transmitter is ideal for use in the pharmaceutical and chemicals industry. The EE300Ex can be mounted directly in the
T
explosion hazard area of zones 0 / 20. The well proven E+E humidity sensor element guarantees long- term stability as well as precise and reliable measurements in the range of 0…100% rel. hum. and - 40…180°C and from 0.01…300bar under pressure. The 2-part housing concept (separation of the connection area and measurement unit) simplifies more than the installation of the humidity transmitter. It also permits the rapid replacement of the measurement unit - such as for calibration - without time-consuming re-cabling. Various EE300Ex versions offer a high level of flexibility.

uperabrasives specialist Engis offers UK customers a wide range of specialist diamond files, available in many shapes, lengths and micron particle sizes, including products suitable for both hand and machine use, all of which have been developed to be particularly effective for removing stock on harder materials, such as tool steels, carbide or ceramics. Engis are available, including files for general use, for heavy duty use, as conical types - recommended for EDM scale removal and the preparation of thin slots - and as riffle types, which are particularly suitable for use on shaped surfaces and are available in both medium and coarse diamond micron sizes. Engis Diamond hand files are designed with a longer shank to facilitate better access into hard-to-reach areas and are also available in a variety of shapes and diamond micron sizes.
Engis precision diamond files S
In
addition to general use designs, hand files are available in riffle-type, conical-type and needle-type, as well as in the form of mini files for delicate work (total file length is approx. 140mm). Engis diamond hand files are very robust, resisting delamination even when used under considerable pressure.

Filter elements tested to ensure air quality
A
s a key supplier of compressed-air filter elements to the UK market, Hi-line Industries Ltd undertake full test and air quality analysis of the filter media that they supply. Now, however, this valuable service is also available to cover the testing of any filtration media products, including competitors equipment. The choice of the correct filter element has a direct effect on operational costs, and experience shows that the air quality can help minimise or even eliminate unnecessary costs. Following investments in state-of-the-art testing equipment including particle counters, flow meters, mass flow controllers and dewpoint meters, Hi-line provide a test facility to measure the efficiency of filter elements. Tests indicate compliance with ISO 8573-1:2010, being the international standard for compressed air quality. This standard lays down minimum air quality standards and defines allowable content levels for dirt, water and oil. During the compression cycle, any inherent air particulates (dust, pollen, water etc) are drawn into the compressor and entrained into the compressed air stream which typically can be at seven times normal atmospheric conditions.

ensorex’s CS615 Conductivity sensor monitors process fluids for changes within this critical
leading to lost time during manufacture, vehicle recall or expense to the end-user for repair and replacement. Safety-critical features must never fail, so total compliance with standards is essential. The brochure demonstrates how force & torque testing is an essential requirement in the development and manufacture of automotive components and subassemblies in order to: • Monitor consistency of components and materials performance from design to tooling to manufacture • Evaluate supplier build quality by batch testing goods-in • Identify component defects, enabling rapid response and production line adjustments • Ensure compliance with stringent industry safety standards
