Merchants Bridge in Missouri and most trackage in the vicinity of Madi- son Yard. Frequencies for TRRA are 160.500 (AAR 26) for road and 160.425 (AAR 21) for switching. The road chan- nel is the one to monitor when railfan- ning the TRRA. All TRRA trains must call the Merchants dispatcher prior to departing Madison Yard, which will let you know where they are headed if you are listening in. The road channel is quite busy with connecting railroads calling dispatch for permission onto or across TRRA rails.
The Districts
The Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis is split up into several operat- ing districts. Some lines carry over 40 trains a day while others may see two moves every 24 hours, making each one unique.
West Belt District: Begins at MP
0.0, the west approach to the Mer- chants Bridge in North St. Louis, Mo.,
and extends to MP 9.3 “Rock Island Junction” in Pagedale, Mo. This line sees light traffic but has heavy indus- try with TRRA running a “Central Belt” job Monday through Friday dur- ing daylight to switch customers on this stretch. Three or four days per week Progressive Rail’s Central Mid- land Railway will get on TRRA rails at MP 9.3 Rock Island Junction to bring interchange to TRRA. Interchange oc-
curs mornings in the 8:00-9:30am range at Pillsbury siding (MP 3.5) which is at Interstate 70 and Shreve Avenue in St. Louis. Other traffic does exist in the form of a “Mill” job to work the large ADM flour mill located off Shreve Avenue, mostly on third shift. North Belt District: Begins at a connection from the West Belt District MP 1.7 near Carrie Avenue in St. Louis and runs from MP 0.0 to a connection
