Portable-Arm-Based CMC Scanning
Seven-axis MCAx manual coor- dinate measuring arms work in combination with the Model- Maker MMDx/MMCx digital hand-held laser scanner and Focus 10 hand-held scanning and inspection software. Accu- racy, capability and portability make the solution well-suited to the metrology lab, shop floor
or in-the-field. The MCAx arm can be equipped with a wide range of probing systems for laser scanning, touch-trigger measurements and continuous scanning. The seven-axis MCAx is available with a measurement volume ranging from 2.0 and 4.5-m diameter. Measurement accuracy better than 50 μm is achieved for applications such as automotive R&D, quality labs and contract inspection facilities. Portable Profilometer
Jr25 3D noncontact portable profilometer can measure in the field or in production environments. Nano through macro-
range measurements can be obtained of profile/dimension, roughness/finish/tex- ture, shape/form/to- pography and many others on a wide range of geometries and materials. The Jr25 has the ability to measure an area up to 25 × 25 mm, and depending on the optical pen, a
depth up to 27 mm and resolution down to 5 nm. Surfaces of almost any type can be measured regardless of how reflec- tive/no reflective, transparent/opaque, or specular/diffusive the material. The Jr25 has a fully rotational single-axis head for measuring surfaces at difficult angles. Along with quick and ease of use, the Jr25 has been designed specifically for production environments where samples cannot be moved and open field studies. Nanovea
High-Performance End Mills Two new high-performance end mills include roughers for aluminum applica- tions and seven-flute semifinishers and finishers for exotic metals. The alumi- num roughers are designed for heavy metal removal rates and are offered in two and three flutes, and both coolant- through and noncoolant-through. The ground-in chipbreaker pattern and open-flute geometry are optimized to slot faster than standard aluminum end mill series. The exotic metals seven-flute end mills are optimized for high-speed machining with low radial engagement, producing accurate and superior surface finishes. The unique geometry with variable indexing and large core diameter prevents deflec- tion on even the longest length tools. The seven-flute end mills are coated
