Maidstone Studios, the UK’s largest independent TV facility, recently completed an HD-upgrade to its Studio 2, which included the installation of a Studer Vista 5 digital audio console. “With a Studer Vista 8 already installed for some years in Studio 1, it made sense to provide commonality of operation across studios so the Vista 5 was a logical choice,” said Rowland Kinch, CEO of Maidstone Studios.

Stagetec celebrates 20 years

Champagne and one very big cake for the staff of the Berlin- based broadcast console specialist and their 300 guests, writes Erica Basnicki

STAGETEC CELEBRATED its 20th anniversary this year, hosting over 300 guests from around the globe at its headquarters in Berlin on 5 July. A champagne reception was

followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the newly-built extension of the company’s production facility. “Today, we serve markets on

every continent and in all areas where pro-audio technology is used. This global activity has stimulated our growth continuously,” said Stagetec co-founder and CEO Klaus- Peter Scholz. “Nowadays, we are working

in parallel on several products and need not only more staff and offices but also the appropriate labs and testing environments,” added Helmut Jahne, head of development and one of Stagetec’s executive directors. “Therefore our company’s anniversary is also the perfect occasion to open our new annex, which enlarges our premises on the river Spree to more than 4,000sqm.” A highlight of the day’s entertainment was a performance by the lead characters from the musical Hinterm Horizont (Behind the Horizon), who drove on to the stage in an old Trabant, a vehicle typical of the former German Democratic Republic. Supported by the Salzbrenner

family, 13 graduate engineers founded the business on 1 July 1993 as a form of employee- owned company. All of them

are still active partners in the company. After only four months in

business, Stagetec introduced the first prototype of its Nexus audio router. Shortly after, the very first Nexus installation went into operation at the Berlin Musical Instrument Museum, consisting of a small fibre-optic audio

network including two Nexus Base Devices. That particular installation is still in use today. “We are particularly grateful to the Salzbrenner family not only for enabling us to have a great start but also for their continuous support and for helping us consolidate our position in the market,” said

Scholz. “We look forward all the more to the continuing success of the Mediagroup; after all, it’s not only our 20th anniversary – Delec has turned 25 this year, and our parent company, Salzbrenner at Buttenheim, was established 50 years ago! Congratulations!”n www.stagetec.com
