2. The green paint was applied first, then the deep V-shaped chevron on the nose was carefully masked off, as were the wind- shields and the side panels, using Tamiya masking tape. 3. The nose was sprayed with several thin coats of CNR yellow.

By taping an Accu-cal decal to a .020″ styrene sheet and care- fully poking along the along the lines, a template was made for cutting the masking tape used for the paint separation on the nose curve. 5. The edges of the styrene template were cleaned up as necessary with files and it was ready to be used. By turning the template over, masking tape can be cut for both sides of


nose. 6. The original numbers on the numberboards were sanded away and decals for new numbers were applied. These were then given several coats of Glosscote. 7. With the painting complete, the air, signal and m.u. hoses have been added to the front of the pilot. Note the chains fashioned from .006″ soft copper wire that are wrapped around the end of the hoses to hold them in place.
