Shed Media expands in London and Brighton
Shed Media Group has recently undertaken a huge expansion of its post production facilities in Brighton and London, adding 22 edit suites and an internal QC suite. David Stewart reports
SHED MEDIA Group makes long-running brands and formats across all media and genres, encompassing scripted, factual, factual entertainment and lifestyle content, and has grown rapidly since its inception. This explains the company’s recent development, as Adam Downey, head of Post Production, Shed Media Group,
comments, “The reason for the major rebuild and expansion of the Brighton facility is both the increase of workload within the Brighton office and the increase in Shed’s regional commissions.” In the Brighton building, post
production has expanded from only three edit suites to an entire floor above Ricochet Productions’ offices. The
installation was completed on schedule and within budget, “which is down to the hard work put in by VSC Media, Hawk Builders and the Shed Media staff,” explains Downey, adding, “VSC did a sterling job, as we have come to expect from them. The official launch date for the QC suite was 27 May. Adds Downey, “External post production facilities have always had QC, but it is a new thing for the internal post production world. It’s not a game changer but adds an additional cost to the operation.”

to an even tighter deadline, as VSC Design installed an additional online Avid Symphony suite and nine offline Avid suites, as well as an internal QC suite. This is a necessity because
moment as we are not quite ready for digital delivery and that will require totally different kit. We are almost ready for digital delivery and at that time of course we will be investing in new equipment specified by VSC.”
Downey feels the expansion is
part of a trend of increasing business but points out that Shed has acquired a major shareholding in Renegade Productions, which has added to the workload on the internal post department.
