A new investment for WRN Broadcast

THREE YEARS ago broadcast managed services specialist WRN Broadcast looked to develop its range of services for the international televisual market, alongside its existing radio clients. This led to heavy investment and significant growth in this area of the business and at the beginning of 2013 the company again decided to invest – this time with over £1m in technology at it’s London-based media centre. This investment includes a dedicated archive environment,

architecture, upgrading Mediator to the latest version, increasing the capabilities of the automation system, upgrading the playout automation, increasing distribution, storage, archive, and we’ve got a new control room,” summarises newly appointed CTO Dave Travis, who oversaw the investment. A significant amount of money went into fitting an Evertz file-based workflow, including the Mediator content management platform and a very large Evertz backend comprising routing, distribution, monitoring, coding and multiplexing. Evertz Overture RT LIVE playout servers offer integrated playout, graphics and live mixing. “The new Evertz Overture RT LIVE servers are the first anywhere outside the United States,” states Travis. Loudness metering on Quantel with Nugen Quantel has announced support for Nugen Audio’s VisLM loudness metering software. Nugen Audio’s VisLM is available on Quantel’s broadcast editors in the latest V5.2 software. With detailed, objective loudness measurement, history and logging facilities, VisLM provides a comprehensive, ITU, ATSC and EBU standard compliant way to measure, compare and contrast loudness during post production.
