Media transform across the Grid

[WOHLER]

ByFergal Ringrose The Wohler RadiantGrid New Media Automation Platform, offers a solution for file-based creation, standards conversion, quality control, and distribution of media while integrating with and augmenting trafficking, rights management, linear automation, and business-process management systems. At the heart of the platform is

RadiantGrid's TrueGrid, a robust media-transformation and parallel- processing engine coupled with an underlying content-management fabric that uses intelligent media- processing functions to generate outstanding results at speed. Powered by this engine, RadiantGrid can manage everything from faster-than- real-time transcoding and standards conversion to more complex processing such as mixed-cadence correction, video optimisation, and audio-loudness conformance. WohlerLoudness is itsnewest

turnkey solution. Powered by RadiantGrid and leveraging Linear Acoustic's AERO.file technology, this platform provides a proven solution for file-based loudness correction with built-in upmix and downmix capabilities. using file-based inspection/correction software, this new solution allows operators to identify and correct loudness issues at ingest — before they become a problem. It also manages ancillary data and advanced audio-processing for channel remapping and insertion of new channels into the video/audio process, and is fully compliant with ITU-R BS.1770 and EBU R128. Gallium shares channel access

[PIXEL POWER] By Jake Young

Broadcast graphics provider Pixel Power is to centralise the latest version of Gallium – the company’s integrated scheduling, asset management and automation system – at BVE 2013.

Gallium provides automated control of Pixel Power’s transmission devices for graphics or complete channel playout, including ChannelMaster. With the ability to manage multi-format content delivery, Gallium maximises sharing across

[SONY} By Jake Young

BVE 2013 will provide the backdrop to the first UK public showing of Sony’s full F-series large sensor camera line-up, comprising the PMW-F3, NEX-FS700, new cameras PMW-F5 and PMW-F55, and F65 4K digital cameras. The show will also see the debut of Sony’s PVM- X300, a 30-inch 4096 x 2160 resolution LCD monitor for support of 4K monitoring in the field.

“2012 was a landmark year for Sony’s

multiple channels, reducing workload and resource requirements while enhancing delivery and consistency with a single operator.

ChannelMaster integrated, scalable channel playout systems will also be on show. ChannelMaster is an out-of-the- box solution to bringing new channels to air. It integrates storage, graphics, DVE, audio, subtitling, master control, live feed and long-form video playout, and integrates with any automation and MAM system, or can be controlled with Pixel Power Gallium.

Enriching live production

[EVS] By Jake Young

At this year’s BVE EVS will introduce Enriched Live Production, which considers the challenges faced by the industry in ensuring quality content is delivered more quickly, more creatively and more efficiently to the consumer. The show will also see the Belgian provider of high-speed broadcast technology highlight its latest product enhancements for an integrated live production workflow.

EVS’ new multi-touch sensing tablet is now fully integrated into the LSM remote control panel. The LSM tablet features a fluid and easy-to-use interface with drag-and-drop capabilities that enables LSM operators to browse content more swiftly and manage playlists much faster.

During the show EVS will talk about how Canal+ uses EVS’ second-screen media delivery platform, C-Cast, to engage Ligue 1 football fans and maximise the value of its content. C- Cast technology is used to power the French broadcaster’s Canal Football App.

With the release of IPDirector suite 6 and its IPWebBrowse module, users can now intuitively access, view and collaborate with live content from any local or remotely connected location. EVS’ high-speed production servers and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 software video editing suites are now fully integrated. Showcasing at BVE this year, the integration will enable users to exchange media recorded on EVS servers and send Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 edits back for instant playout. C12

Make that link through weak cellular coverage

[ GARLAND PARTNERS/LIVEU] ByJake Young

Garland Partners will showcase LiveU’s LU40-S uplink device, which incorporates the company’s internal antenna for additional resiliency in areas of poor cellular coverage.

The LU40-S offers low latency for interview-mode; local storage store and forward; file transfer (FTP); video and audio indicators; under one minute boot- up time; and the ability to control the unit from its touchscreen, the server or from any web-enabled device. The antenna and modems support cellular and Wi-Fi frequencies including 4G LTE, ensuring enhanced signal performance with long- range reception and increased uplink capability.

LiveU's LU70

cellular-based live video uplink solution offers second-generation internal and external antenna arrays, providing satellite-like resiliency on the move and in heavily crowded locations. The LU70 backpack bonds up to 14 3G/4G LTE, WiMAX, Wi-Fi and LAN network connections simultaneously. LiveU’s new external antenna, the LiveU Xtender, increases network reception and provides additional resiliency for live video transmission in extreme scenarios. The LiveU Xtender adds six additional network connections to LiveU’s LU70 backpack and covers all current 3G/4G LTE cellular network bands worldwide. E33
