Beyond HD Masters sets Europe’s agenda

MOMENTUM for TVBEurope’s Beyond HD Masters 2013 continues to build with the unveiling of the draft agenda for the event, asking ‘What’s next on the horizon for the European television broadcast technology marketplace?’
All content on the draft
agenda is subject to change without notice – as befits a ‘Beyond HD’ landscape that is currently unpredictable. NAB will certainly provide new directions in this regard; but the pervasive market confusion around Ultra-HD, 4K and 3D is the very reason for the existence of the Beyond HD Masters event.
The similarities with the
emergence of HD, where certain operators took a pioneering lead, are striking but what lessons were learned in HD rollout that should be applied this time around? Crucially, where is the content for viewers to watch on new Ultra-HD sets going to come from? What challenges does the industry need to address to reach a higher resolution broadcast future, and when will that arrive in the home? Many European broadcasters

A session at Beyond HD Masters will examine in detail the status of HEVC, its commercial implications and how it is dovetailing with the rollout of DVB-S2. Do advances in MPEG-4 encoders and satellite modulation techniques mean that 4K could be delivered
