INSTALLATION SHOWCASE: ENTERTAINMENT Be part of the BAFTA crowd
London’s prestigious BAFTA venue becomes the heart of the AV installation world on 5 November when it plays host to a new case-study led conference from Installation
‘The voting format introduces a competitive element which provides a degree of fun, but should also keep the presenters on their toes’

HOWDO you ensure that entertainment venues – such as stadiums, theatres, concert halls and cinemas – are suitably equipped for multipurpose use? How are the audio and video networking decisions arrived at? How is futureproofing achieved? These are some of the issues that will be discussed at Installation Showcase: Entertainment – a new kind of conference event which will take place at BAFTA in London on 5 November. It promises to be an informative and thought-provoking day, discussing best practice in the design and integration of audio, video and lighting within entertainment venues. It will be of interest to anyone who works within the field of venue technology: audio, video and lighting systems integrators, installers and consultants, entertainment venue AV/IT managers and facility managers. The format is very

straightforward – case studies of entertainment venue installation projects are presented by the integrators, consultants or clients who worked on them. There’s a Q&A at the end of each session. At the end of the day, the audience uses voting technology to select the projects that have impressed them the most, based on three criteria: innovation, value for money and wow factor. There’s then a short awards presentation followed by complimentary networking drinks event.
In addition to the case study presentations, there will also be two panel sessions, providing the opportunity to discuss and debate some of the wider issues affecting AV
installations in entertainment venues. This will ensure that Installation Showcase: Entertainment won’t just be a one-way lecture event; it will also provide a forum for

discussion, not just about the projects being presented, but also some of the wider issues that are being encountered at the sharp end. “I’m very much looking
forward to Installation Showcase: Entertainment,” said Paddy Baker, editor of Installation, “as it’s a further way of communicating with the wider installation community. Even the long- form Solutions stories that we publish in the magazine don’t always provide the opportunity to explain fully all of the equipment selection and integration decisions that go into an installation. The Installation Showcase format allows not only for in-depth discussion of projects, but also for different case studies to be compared and contrasted.
He added: “The voting
format introduces a competitive element which provides a degree of fun, but should also keep the presenters on their toes.”
There will also be a tabletop exhibition area, where solutions particularly suited to the entertainment world will be displayed and demonstrated. Meyer Sound has already come on board as a Platinum Sponsor, and we look forward to making further
announcements of sponsors of the event and the programme on the day.
WANT TO GET INVOLVED? If you have been involved with an entertainment project that you think deserves a public airing at Installation Showcase: Entertainment, please get in touch. Contact Ian Graham (
ian.graham@
intentmedia.co.uk) or Les Wood (
les.wood@intentmedia.co.uk) on +44 20 7354 6000. For manufacturers, there
are numerous benefits to becoming a sponsor of the event. By introducing one of the case study presentations, you and your
technology will be highlighted as a major name in the world of entertainment installations, and the event format will enable you to forge connections between your brand and best practice in this market. You’ll also be able to present product and/or software demonstrations to the audience of key installation professionals. You’ll benefit from high-profile branding before, during and after the event, and your profile will be raised even further if the independent audience judges your project as one of the award winners. And, of course, there will be full coverage of the day, and the projects presented, in Installation. If you’d like to attend Installation Showcase: Entertainment, early bird tickets at just £49 are currently available from the event website.
