Con-Cor has introduced the powered versions on their MP54 series passen- ger cars released a few years ago. The earlier release included the locomotive hauled M54 coach, MPB54 combine and MBM62 baggage-mail cars. When the Pennsylvania Railroad originally designed these cars, they included a provision for adding powered trucks, control equipment, and pantographs for eventual electric multiple-unit (m.u.) operation. Con-Cor has done the same thing with their MP54 models. The new release includes the powered Pennsylvania MP54E coach, MPB54E combine and MBM62E baggage-mail
cars, each offered in motorized or un- motorized versions, and also an unpow- ered trailer version of each of these cars. Con-Cor has also announced Long Island versions all three car types with third rail shoes instead of pantographs in motorized or unmotorized versions. (To reduce possible confusion in the fol- lowing review, we will use the term “powered” when referring to the proto- type cars or trucks, and “motorized” when referring to the Con-Cor models with 12 volt motors.)
