Where to Stay

Sumptuously Stunning

With its comfy chic décor and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, the Salthouse Harbour Hotel is definitely in my top 5 hotels…

My husband and I were delighted to arrive at the artfully designed boutique Salthouse Harbour Hotel. The reception staff were professionally attentive and had us checked–in within a couple of minutes. We were thrilled to be on the 5th floor, as the Salthouse is beautifully situated on the waterfront of Ipswich’s vibrant Neptune Quay, so the view from floor five was spectacular. Our room was adorned with eclectic art, vintage furniture and interesting sculptures with double doors onto our balcony that overlooked the stunning marina. However, the most prominent features that caught my eye were the finishing touches. Leaning up against one of the table lamps was a postcard with a hand–written message ‘Mrs Law, Welcome to the Salthouse Harbour Hotel! We hope you enjoy your stay…’ There was also floor to ceiling glass

by the bath, which at the press of a button turned opaque, so you could have the privacy of a nice quiet bath or the view of the beautiful waterfront. A separate power shower was also built into the chic bathroom. In the evening we dined at the waterside ‘Eaterie’. The website boasts “The dishes are modern and always surprise with a curious twist of something deliciously different”. Needless to say, we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely exquisite and the

décor was equally as inspiring as the food. My husband and I shared a bottle of ‘Charles Melton Rose Wine 2011 Barossa Valley’ and it really finished our meal off nicely – I would highly recommend the ‘Eaterie’ and that wine! After a comfy night’s sleep in our rather large bed, we enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast downstairs at the ‘Eaterie’.

The Salthouse Harbour Hotel exceeded all my expectations of a 4 star hotel and I will definitely be staying there again - hopefully in the very near future!
