compromise on illumination levels, we have developed an LED head that actually produces more light than a conventional metal halide unit,” contended MD Chris Archer. “Our Italian parent has established a dedicated plant to manufacture the heads, which are specially designed to dissipate heat effectively. The 1500rpm water-cooled Kohler diesel engine typically uses only 0.7 litres of fuel an hour, giving reduced emissions and considerable cost savings.

ArcGen Hilta’s stand resembled a silent movie box office, complete with free popcorn and Laurel & Hardy look-alikes, to emphasise the low-noise characteristics of the company’s Eventa generators and SMC lighting towers. Shown in prototype form was an Xtend camera unit, primarily designed to deter metal theft at sites on or adjacent to the rail network. Mounted on an SMC TL-90 lighting tower base, static or pan tilt zoom (PTZ) cameras can be fitted, together with thermal imaging and night vision facilities. Intelligent video content analysis is also available, to avoid unnecessary activation caused by trains or other objects. The Xtend will be formally launched at the Executive Hire Show.
