KNITWEAR


EMMA PICK using Cocoon, Pure Wool DK & Kidsilk Haze Where are you from? I am from Burton on Trent in Staff ordshire.


When did you start knitting? My mum is a keen knitter so I guess my interest in knit came from her.


What were your reasons for studying design at Nottingham Trent University? I have a love for fashion and fashion knitwear in particular. Completing a four year degree course in something that I actually enjoy in my own time was the main reason why I chose to study on the Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles course at Nottingham Trent University


Your 3rd year is spent on placement, where are you currently


working? I am currently on placement in Camden, London working for a knitwear supplier to the high street.


What do you feel about Rowan and the Rowan project? I thought the Rowan project for Wool Week was a great opportunity to develop a concept from scratch and make my own rules in terms of colour, stitch and drape.


What was the inspiration behind your fi nal design? My initial inspiration came from a personal collection of delicate bird watercolours which I used to develop and interpret into knitwear. I am so thrilled to be chosen to be featured by Rowan!


What are your hopes and dreams for your future career in design? I would like to be a part of a design team supplying the high street stores or create my own knitwear supply business with my sister who also shares my love for hand knitting.
