Manchester nail tech triumphs at Birmingham’s UK Nail Tech


Fereida Lydiate from TheNail&Beauty Studio in Swinton, Manchesterwas a doublewinner at this year’sUKNailTech event.


Fereida collected first place in both theTopTechCompetition Nails category and the Salon NailChallenge competition, displaying her true talent as a champion nail artist by successfully competing in two competitions in one day.


The competitionwas held as part of the annualBeautyUK event at theNECBirmingham, and is nowin its sixth year. In total, 90 individuals competed over two days in nine different competitions, and the event was sponsored by EntityNail


Couture and supported by ABT, ChinaGlaze,KookyNail Fashionistas and Pina Parie.


TowinTopTech Competition Nails, Fereida competed for two and a half hours completing a full set of pink andwhite nail enhancements to competition standard.


Judgeswere looking for a good shaped tipwith a high apex and goodCCurve.


The SalonNailChallenge competition aims to showcase the salon skills of nail technicians,which differ to those used inCompetitions. In an hour and a half, competitors produced a set of 10 salon-style nails and the judgeswere looking for 10 salon standard nail extensions,whichwere suitable for everydaywearwith a free edge thatwas no longer than 50%of the nail plate.


Competition winner does the double!


Other categories contested during the two-day event includedTopTechNewcomer Tip&Overlay aimed at professional nail technicians who had never competed before.Thiswaswon by first time competitor Julija Barinsikova fromUxbridge in Middlesex.


SalonNailArtChallenge, where competitors had 90 minutes to produce one hand of wearable encapsulated nail art, waswon byNicolaRomero of Stalybridge,Cheshire.


Celebrating student talent


UK Nail Tech also likes to celebrate the talents of UK students, and so once again was proud to hold its annual Student Tip & Overlay Challenge. Popular with

NVQ Level 2 and 3 students, competitors produced a set of nail enhancements using L&P, Gel orWrap in two and a half hours to NVQ Level 2 standard.Winner Anya Longster from


Elysium Nail Studio in Goole, North Humberside, impressed the judges with her entry.
