Alternatively, the Cuccio Pro Liquid and Powder range uses an innovative new Nano technology to produce its powders. This means that the particles of powders are all different sizes, giving much smaller air particles in the finished product. Cuccio explain the theory like a basket of tennis balls – the pockets of air between each ball would all be exactly the same size. Nano technology means that you can produce the particles in the powders to be all different sizes. This means that the basket now has tennis balls, marbles, ping pong balls, etc, in it. The pockets of air become much tighter, allowing for no discolouration or lift.

Offering a full spectrum of colours, Entity’s Coloured Acrylic Powder, available from The Beauty Partnership, allows you to sculpt a masterpiece using TrueArtistry 24 colour palette acrylic sculpting powder. The colour spectrum ranges from pastels to bolds, brights and glitters.

EzFlow, available from Grafton International, offer threeAcrylic systems to choose from –A-Polymer, HD and design / colour collections.

TheA-Polymer system is a combination of QMonomer, A-Polymer and Competition Powders, allowing the nail technician to sculpt nails that are thin, flexible and long and strong. The system uses Cross Link molecule technology, which allows for an elegant nail that stays strong.

The Q-Monomer part of the system uses an innovative formula which eliminates the two greatest threats to be successful – discolouration

and chipping or breakage. It contains colour stabilisers which prevent yellowing allowing pinks, whites and clears to retain their pigment. With Q-Monomer there’s also 40%less odour.

And finally, for the colour part of the equation, there are seven colours available which work with the QMonomer Liquid. Also available are Competition Powders, which are quick-set to help with fast, detailed work.

Alternatively, the HD System utilises the latest technology of monomer to provide technicians with a primer-less monomer. This high definition monomer contains additives that enable the liquid itself to create the adhesive properties necessary for the acrylic to adhere to the nail plate. Creating its own adhesive bond to the natural nail, this revolutionary monomer allows the two surfaces to be joined together.

HD Powders incorporate the flexibility and performance of a homopolymer while maintaining application control of a copolymer. These patent pending Smart Polymers™and Optical Brighteners are time released through encapsulated Microspheres. The Plasticizers continue to strengthen the HD nail during the life of the enhancement. Optical Brighteners use a blue colourant that eliminates any discolouration.

Create colourful designs with EzFlow’s nine design or colour collections, catering for all your art and design requirements. These contain the exact properties of the a-polymer system. The collections consist of DareTo Be Dazzling, ideal for subtle French looks;Walk of Fame, an intense glitter; Carnival, a sparkly and pigmented collection;Time to Shine, another sparkle collection; Confetti, lightly pigmented powered with chunky holographic polyester film; Pastel Flower, a collection of pretty pastel shades; Rainbow Candy, bright rainbow colours; Earthstones, a collection of rich, earthy stones and Gemstones, bright jewel colours.

Bio Sculpture Gel Treatment Review

I was visited by one of Bio Sculpture Gel’s Midlands’ educator, Kerry Lee, to see for myself just how their Gel colours worked.

Kerry began my treatment with a consultation form to asses my lifestyle and whether I had any particular hobbies that might affect the products used on my nails and the durability of the Gel colour, before deciding which base and top products would suit me.At this point Kerry also assessed my nails to decide which products would suit them best.

Bio Sculpture Gel offer different products for different nail types, so if a client is a smoker or does a lot of sport, the nail technician can tailor the treatment to their particular nail type.My nails were healthy and quite flexible, so Kerry chose products that would suit my nail type and would bend with my nail.We also discussed colours at this point and Kerry suggested shades that would complement my skin tone. With Kerry’s guidance I decided to opt for Cango Caves from theVintageAfrica collection.

To begin the treatment, Kerry soaked my hands and sanitised them, and then sanitised her own. She then took a final look over my nails, discussed with me the length and shape I usually like, discussed any breakages that needed ‘fixing’ and set to work with the treatment.

Firstly, Kerry applied cuticle remover to the cuticle areas and then filed my nails to the desired shape and length whilst the cuticle remover was left to work its magic. Using a cuticle pusher, all non-living tissue was removed from the edge of the nails and any traces of cuticle remover were removed. Kerry also used an exfoliating stick to make sure any last traces or cuticle were removed.

At this stage, Kerry advised that usually with Gel orAcrylic application the shine would need removing from the nail with a buffing block, however, Bio Sculpture Gel is designed to keep the nail healthy underneath the Gel application and buffing

isn’t required with their products. The treatment doesn’t require any priming or dehydration either.

Where I had a couple of weak spots of splits, Kerry fixed these using silk with a clear Gel overlay cured under the lamp and then buffed slightly to make sure there were no lumps or uneven surface left where the silk had been applied.

Kerry then applied a dot of Executive Base to the centre of each nail, without going close to the edges, which aids during the soaking off of the nails. She could then begin the application of the Gel, applying the clear Gel suitable for my nail type to the nails and curing for two minutes under the UV lamp.

Once the basecoat had cured, Kerry then applied the first coat of colour to my nails in small brushstrokes, keeping away from the cuticle area and edges of the nail so as not to get it on the skin. The first coat was cured for two minutes and a second coat applied and cured. Once all colour coats had been applied, Kerry finished off with a refining layer suitable for my nail type and cured this again for two minutes.

Once the Gel was cured, Cleanser was used to remove the sticky layer left behind and the Gel was refined with a Bio Sculpture Gel sanding board and any dust removed with Cleanser. The treatment was completed with topcoat to bring back the shine, a few drops of Cuticle Oil rubbed into the fingers and Bio Sculpture Hand Cream was massaged into the hands to finish the treatment.

Once completed my nails looked immaculate with no smudging, lumps or unevenness.A week later my nails look as good as the did on the day of the treatment, and the best bit is I haven’t had to worry about the state of my nails as I know they always look great.
