Road show boosts buyer numbers for CIBTM


BEIJING A roadshow through Shanghai


and Chengdu has doubled hosted buyer numbers from South China for CIBTM at China National Convention Center in Beijing.

CIBTM in supporting both inbound and outbound business for China’s meetings industry, the roadshow explained how the show also reaches potential buyers in the industry who do not realise they are part of it, such as EAs and PAs. About 100 meeting professional


attended the first CIBTM forum in Chengdu, one of the top three potential meetings destinations in China according to the latest China National Tourism Administration industry report. Organiser Reed Travel Exhibitions says


the meetings were designed to show how CIBTM could help Chinese business tourism professionals develop their busi- ness objectives and also help their personal careers. Being introduced at the show this year are education sessions for all levels powered by industry associations. RTE project manager Jeffrey Xu says

He told Travel Daily News that the show gives corporate buyers direct access to industry information, and allows them to build a rapport with new suppliers as well as learn more about the industry through the education program. Support urged for young mothers SINGAPORE The labour movement’s U


Family unit has called on more employers in Singapore to support back-to-work breastfeeding mothers through providing flexible lactation breaks, and for office building owners to provide nursing and family corners. A U Family survey of 1318 mothers has shown that 30 per cent weaned off breast-


feeding before their babies turned six months old when they returned to work. Nearly half of those who did not breastfeed cite a lack of support at the workplace. Of those surveyed, 44 per cent wanted such workplace lactation support as lactation corners, lactation breaks and storage, while 23 per cent wanted the option of flexible work arrangements.

NEW YORK Dutch research organisation the VALK


Foundation has launched in New York the first scientifi- cally developed, web-based treatment for people who fear flying. Already in use in Europe, the Flight App for Android, iPad and iPhone users is in English for the first time. It was developed as a result of 23 years of scien- tific research and treatments by the foundation. It will soon be launched in Chinese.
