EXECUTIVE PA MAGAZINE AWARDS 2013 Putting the spotlight... on you Awards can be the catalyst for the next step in a PA’s career.
Asia’s hardest-working and most ded- icated personal assistants will be rewarded in the inaugural Asia Executive PA Maga- zine Awards in Singapore next year. Following the tradition of the Execu-
tive PA Magazine Awards in the UK and Australia, it is a chance to showcase and recognise the professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm within the office support industry, and entries for the awards will be sought from across Asia. “As well as fabulous trophies and
prizes for the winners and finalists, the awards provide a unique boost for their resume,” says Executive PA Magazine Worldwide chairman Russell Peacock, who describes the awards as a global brand and a huge success. “An exclusive occasion, the awards
night is the event of the year for PAs which propels our winners and finalists on to the global stage. For many, the awards are the catalyst for the next step in their careers.” Hundreds of PAs and EAs attend the
award ceremonies along with their bosses to celebrate the hard work and dedication of professional administrators. “I see the role of the executive assis-
tant as the linchpin of an organisation – the pivot between the boss, manage- ment team and staff ... Our EA of today is truly a super hero,” says Australian Insti- tute of Office Professionals national president Catherine Middleton, a judge at this year’s Australian awards. “The attributes of an EA are many:
projecting an air of self-assurance and ease, even when under pressure of tight deadlines; able to make the difficult deci- sions and stand by them even when they are not popular; seeking responsibility perhaps beyond that of the job require- ments; identifying opportunities, antici- pating problems and taking action; recovering from setbacks, continuing to
work effectively and maintaining a posi- tive outlook; using tact and diplomacy when faced with difficult situations; con- sistent in motivation, professionalism and maturity; demonstrating an ethical approach to their position; ETHICS (Expertise, Trust, Honesty, Integrity, Creativity and Service); adept at handling with aplomb the pressure of multiple tasks, difficult situations, deadlines and other people’s problems; and being a team player and promoting this philoso- phy with the younger members of staff. “I believe that managers are now
reassessing their evaluation of their assistants, recognising them for the true professionals they are.”
