2011 Gross Receipts Tax: School Report


As a cooperative, OEC is a not-for-profit business and as such, we do not pay sales tax. Electric cooperatives pay a state tax equal to 2 percent of the gross receipts from the sale and distribution of electric power during the calendar year. Ninety- five percent of this gross receipts tax goes directly to the schools in our service area; the remaining 5 percent is kept by the tax commission for administration costs. A school’s share is determined by the miles of electric line in its district. Below is a list of the many schools in our service territory and the amounts paid to them in 2011.
