Hammers & Nailers

Hammer – a pounding tool The hammer may be the oldest tool for which definite evidence exists. Stone hammers have been discovered, estimated to be dated to 2,600,000 BC A booklet from more recent times but still from the last century states that a hammer is one of the three basic hand tools in every tool box alongside pliers and screwdrivers. This is probably just as true today even though the modern toolbox will be filled with ever more sophisticated tools. Hammers come in a wide range, varying in shape, size and weight. The

different styles reflect different uses. The shape of hammerheads has not changed much over the years although some modern materials are now used in both the head and handle. Many are forged in one piece and have anti slip handles. Although traditionally handles were made of wood fixed through a hole in the head, allowing the handle to be easily replaced if required, many modern hammers use modern materials and the handles are often built into the head - often with a form of built-in shock absorber to reduce vibration. Power hammers are often referred to as power nailers. These take the hard work out of fitting nails and staples. There is a wide range of nailers and staple guns on the market to choose from suitable for light to heavy-duty construction.

Full power with less vibration: GBH 8-45 DV Professional rotary hammer from Bosch offers “Turbo Power” in chiseling mode • High performance due to 1500 watt motor and 12.5 joules of impact energy • Triple vibration damping increases permitted operating time per day • “Turbo Power” function for extra power in chiseling mode When using rotary hammers, the most important thing for professionals is the

power. With its GBH 8-45 DV Professional eight-kilo rotary hammer, Bosch offers an exceptionally powerful tool that is also low in vibra tion with a permitted operating time of more than three hours per day. It is powered by a 1500 watt motor and works with an impact energy of 12.5 joules. This enables breakthroughs to be drilled quickly in walls or ceilings. The “Turbo Power” function of the GBH 8- 45 DV Professional ensures optimized performance in chiseling mode because it uses the energy required for the rotation in drilling mode. This increases chiseling performance and enables cable ducts to be cut or floor tiles to be removed extremely quickly. 80 years of hammer expertise in trade and industry In 1932, Bosch produced the first rotary hammer in series. It was com pletely

tailored to the needs of professionals, it had an impact mechanism for drilling and chiseling, and enabled a considerably faster working progress then hand tools used so far. This world first celebrated its premiere 80 years ago at the Leipzig trade fair, setting a milestone in the construction industry. Since 1932, Bosch has continually enhanced the hammer and has often assumed the role of technology leader. Many developments have prevailed as worldwide standards on the market. An example is the SDS-plus toolholder launched in 1975 for fast, tool-free drill bit and chisel changes. This was followed in 1990 by the SDS-max version for larger drill bits and chisels. Further milestones are the world’s first two-kilo rotary hammer (1981), the world’s first cordless hammer (1984), the world’s first cordless hammer with lithium-ion technology (2005) and the world’s first SDS-plus hammer with active vibration damping (2011). The GBH 8-45 DV Professional rotary hammer will be available at Bosch
