What: E-Learning Refresher Asbestos Awareness. When and where: Online. A new E-learning refresher course covering the latest developments in asbestos awareness, it is designed for operatives who have already undertaken class-based tuition and require the latest information on this key health and safety topic.
E-learning can significantly save time and money compared to classroom-based refresher training – and there are special rates for ECA registered members and ELECSA members.
This refresher course will be fully accessible online via a PC or Mac, and includes an online exam that delegates must pass to gain a certificate of completion. n Interested? Email the word ‘asbestos’ to eandtcourses@

Occupational health and safety
Operatives at many levels are required to hold an appropriate level of health and safety knowledge, particularly those working on UK Construction Group (UKCG) sites. The ECA offers the following IOSH and CITB industry- recognised courses (UKCG- approved) to meet the needs of senior executives, supervisors and managers:
n CITB SMSTS (Refresher) Site 70 ECA Today July 2012
Management Training Scheme (HS16); n IOSH Safety for Senior Supervisors (HS17); n IOSH Managing Safely in Construction (HS27); and n IOSH Managing Safely in Construction – Recertification (HS28).

Learn with the experts Paul Hillman MSc,
ECA building controls courses
Paul Hillman teaches the ECA building controls technical training courses, developed and run by the association on behalf of the Building Control Industry Association (BCIA).
Award-winner
Operatives interested in learning to work in the area of building controls and HVAC are in very good hands with Paul, who is
fresh from winning an award for his outstanding achievement and contribution to professional training at the recent BCIA Awards 2012 in May.
Qualifications and experience Paul holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Building Services Engineering with Sustainable Energy from Brunel University. He is an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
He has worked on large-scale projects including Eurotunnel, the Millennium Dome, ExCeL London and Bluewater shopping complex in Kent.
Expertise Paul’s areas of excellence include: building services; engineering; energy; HVAC controls; commissioning; and commissioning management.
Delegate feedback Paul receives excellent feedback from course delegates, not least because he shares his own in-depth knowledge to educate his students. Paul plays a major role in ensuring that the ECA BCIA courses are appropriate for the needs of the building controls environment and its engineers and consultants.
