Right royal journey
Vic on the boats near Tower Bridge (note ECA cap!)
On Sunday 3 June, more than 1,000 vessels participated in a fl otilla on the Thames, from Battersea to Tower Bridge, for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The ECA’s Eastern region deputy regional manager, Vic Fagence, braved the weather and took part as a member of the crew on the historic steam narrowboat, President.
President is owned by the Black Country Museum in Dudley and, together with its ‘butty’ boat Kildare, is maintained and run by The Friends of President, of which Vic is a member. President was entered in the pageant to represent the county of Staffordshire, and a number of local businesses sponsored the event. The boats even delivered a JCB from Stoke on Trent to London on behalf of JCB (one of the sponsors).
EICR presentations keep South East in the know
Branch chairman John Smith and Karl Spence at the Brighton & Hove EICR presentation
On Monday 16 April, the Brighton & Hove Branch held an informative presentation on Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR). ECA senior area technical manager Connor Flynn attended and gave a very interesting presentation on this important subject.
The meeting was held at the AMEX Stadium, the home of
Brighton Football Club. It was very well attended, with around 50 delegates present, all of whom enjoyed the view of the magnifi cent stadium. John Smith, South East regional chairman, made the journey from Kent and was warmly welcomed. Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells branches also enjoyed presentations
on EICR. Connor Flynn shared his expertise on this subject with members of both branches at the Wells Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, on Tuesday 22 May. There was also a brief presentation on WIHA tools. The presentations were well received, and for many attending it was also an opportunity to meet up with old friends and acquaintances.

They are trained to the highest level through JTL and through our highly skilled workforce. We are proud of the technical level of our entire workforce, and training through apprenticeships keeps our high standards running. We very rarely fi nd that our apprentices are not employed by us as
