IN A MOVE almost guaranteed to get it column inches in the national press, Bandai has hired the world’s first security cat to guard its warehouse in Southampton. Indeed, the charms of the Bengal cat called Millie have already worked on The Metro,


The Telegraph and Evening Standard. Millie will apparently guard Bandai’s Christmas ranges, including Ben 10, Power Rangers and ThunderCats, with deliveries coming in thick and fast ahead of stock being shipped to retailers across the country.

THE BTHA moves the dates for Toy Fair 2006 at ExCeL from Thursday January 26th – Sunday January 29th, to Wednesday 25th – Saturday 28th, a move which is met with almost universal approval from the trade. The new format opens an extra day in the working week for visitors to select, which the BTHA show committee felt was a necessary step to underpin the continued success of the Fair… Anna Chapman is to leave Hasbro after 12 years. She held a series of roles at the firm, most recently as marketing director across the games division… Vivid Imaginations is to enter the console market in a joint venture with Nikko, launching a new portable entertainment centre incorporating games, MP3, video and digital imaging technology… Mega Bloks acquires arts and crafts specialist Rose Art in a deal worth $350 million… Master toy licensee Character Options reveals its line-up of toys for the BBC’s resurrected Doctor
