RE:CREATION EXPANDS


STAR WARS LINE Re:creation has strengthened its Lego Star Wars Keylight range which the addition of Imperial Stormtoopers. THE HIVE JOINS


LEAPPAD RANGE LeapFrog has grown the offering in its App Centre, teaming up with Space Enterprises to introduce pre-school hit The Hive to LeapPad and Leapster Explorer consoles. THE CO-FOUNDER of Disney’s Club Penguin, Lane Merrifield, is to deliver the keynote speech at this month’s Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield. Merrifield, who is also EVP of Disney Online Studios, will address delegates on the theme of ‘Ahead of the Game’, sharing his insights into the success of the virtual world and considering new ways of connecting with kids in the future.


In addition, the ‘Screen to Shelf – Ready for Retail?’ session will feature a number of licensing industry execs, including Helen Howells, joint MD


of Hoho Entertainment, offering advice on how TV properties can make a successful transition into consumer products. Ian Livingstone OBE, life president of Eidos Games and co-founder of Games Workshop, will reflect on the current challenges and opportunities in interactive media, sharing some of his learnings from the last 30 years. A new initiative this year will see CMC hosting a Dragons’ Den-style pitching competition featuring Mind Candy boss, Michael Acton Smith, and Nigel Pickard from Zodiak Media, among others. “This year’s CMC theme is ‘Ahead of the Game’, a nod, of course, to the

The firm is supplying costumes for girls aged three to four, five to seven and eight to ten respectively. These include the Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf and Frankie Stein outfits (pictured).


The costumes retail from around £19.99 and have been picked up by Argos, Toys R Us and Smyth’s. “We are hoping for a great response at retail this year,” Rubie’s media and licensing manager Holly Oldham told ToyNews.
