Last year, Lego Ninjago was the strongest new launch in the construction building sets category, generating over £16 million in sales throughout 2011. Here’s the latest play-set in the franchise…
LEGO NINJAGO ended 2011 as the third- largest property within building sets, behind Lego City and Star Wars at number one and number two respectively. For 2012, Lego Ninjago continues to combine the dual platform play of collectable spinners and themed play-sets. It extends the mysterious Ninja universe with new characters and vehicles. The Lego Ninjago Epic Dragon Battle was named Best New Toy in the construction/ building sets category at the London Toy Fair Awards. The 915-piece set features a four-headed Ultra Dragon with extendable wings, flexible body and tail, plus a flame sphere shooter, taking children further into the world of Spinjitsu and the quest of four trainee ninjas to defeat Lord Garmadon. He has unleashed ancient breeds of sinister snake people, including the Great Devourer, who are threatening to consume the world of Ninjago. Kids can call upon the green ninja, riding the
four-headed Ultra Dragon, to defeat the evil snake Generals Acidicus, Skalidor and snake soldier Chokun. This will allow master ninja Sensei Wu to walk free from his snake prison. The Ultra Dragon measures over 20 inches
long, 14 inches wide and nine inches tall. The set also include seven minifigures, the Great Devourer, a Hypnobrai fang blade with blue anti- venom capsule, four golden Spinjitsu weapons, seven regular weapons and a snake prison. The latter comes complete with an opening gate, space for a minifigure and a snake venom trap. The Epic Dragon Battle will receive TV and print advertising, while the Ninjago brand will be supported by a PR campaign targeting national, broadcast, online, children’s and parenting media.
