NAMM backs Music For All
THE NAMM Foundation has given a large donation to the Music For All charity as part of its grants programme. The industry charity was
one of 21 worldwide recipients of a slice of the US trade body’s 2012-2013 grant programme, which allocates $445,000 to support innovative community-based music learning programmes designed to expand the reach of music and music-making. The new grants help organisations operate programs designed to increase interest and participation in making

music among teachers, seniors, college students and school-aged children. The grant has been
awarded to Music for All’s Learn to Play programme that visits UK schools and supports the creation of new music makers. Paul McManus of Music for All said: “We are indebted to the NAMM Foundation for their continued support of our ‘Learn to Play’ programme. This wonderful partnership has already helped us to create many hundreds of new musicians in the UK, many of whom would not otherwise have had access to music making.”
Mesa offers rebate
Peavey was powering many of the guitars at the recent Jubilee Concert at the Victoria Memorial. Hidden under the stage were a host of Peavey amps for artists such as Tom Jones, Cliff Richard and Annie Lennox. “A couple of the guests
weren’t keen on an amp with a 10-inch speaker, which is why we got the 212s in as well; I also brought my own Peavey Delta Blues, which is a great
amp,” guitar tech Steve Prior explained.
Because the amplifiers had to be hidden under the stage, and the weather was also particularly bad on the day, a few tweaks had to be made to the setup. Blankets were used to soften the Queen Victoria Memorial’s marble base, and a carpeted box was built to keep the amps isolated and prevent any undesirable audio effects being generated.
