the Germans and The Netherlands as likely obstacles, as well as the second American entry (whether it’s Matt Fuerbringer-Nick Lucena or Sean Rosenthal-Jake Gibb, which will be settled after the Rome Grand Slam). “The list is deep of teams who could win a gold medal,” he said. “I still think if Phil and I are both on, there is no team that can beat us. The key is both of us being on at the same time, which is no guarantee.” Dalhausser agreed that most of the teams in the draw would be no cup of tea in Lon- don. “We can’t afford to overlook anybody or it will bite us in the butt,” he said. A surprising nibble took place in Bei- jing when Dalhausser and Rogers lost their opening Olympic match to Latvia’s Martins Plavins and Aleksandrs Samoilovs. “I don’t think they ever scored a combined 20 points against us in a match before that,” Dal- hausser said. “But they played great and we weren’t in a rhythm. That match did a lot for how we now view any opponent.”
