21 MAY: WASHINGON DC Reports emerge that a woman flying with American Airlines and wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the phrase “If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d f*** a senator” missed her connecting flight due to having to cover up the wording, having been told that she should not have been allowed to board the first leg of her journey from Washington DC.
27 MAY: WASHINGTON DC Viggo Mortensen, star of The Road, was warned to tone down his exuberant behaviour by security at Dulles airport after he caused concern with his excited reaction to a soccer game he was watching on his laptop. Mortensen wrote an article on San Lorenzo’s (the Argentinian team he supports) website saying, "I screamed GOAAAAAAL with all my soul, and started jumping around the place like a frightened deer among the passengers and their suitcases. People can't understand why am I screaming 'PIPI' (a player's nickname) over and over again, and whether it's because I've p**sed myself or maybe I got hurt someway".
31 MAY: ISLAMABAD
Saeed Al-Shehri, a Saudi Arabian embassy official, was allegedly assaulted by Airport Security Force officers at Benazir Bhutto International Airport when he argued with an official when his son was stopped and required to go through enhanced screening before boarding a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to Riyadh. Al- Shehri required hospital treatment.
11 APRIL: SHANGHAI
A Shenzhen Airlines flight, en route from Shenzhen to Harbin, diverted to Shanghai due to a thunderstorm on the evening of 10 April. The passengers were put up in a hotel overnight. The next morning, more than 20 of the passengers, angry about the delay, refused to board the flight and walked onto the taxiway to demand compensation. Shenzhen Airlines later agreed to pay compensation of 1,000 yuan (approx. US$160) to each of the passengers on the delayed flight, but those who entered the restricted area may face prosecution and a fine.

26 MARCH: XIAMEN Liu,
24, smashed the window of a Spring Airlines
flight he had just boarded in Xiamen.
Liu was frustrated by a 1.5 hour delayed departure of the flight to Shanghai. He later apologised and paid for the repairs.
2 APRIL: PARIS
An intoxicated Israeli man tried to attack cabin crew, pulled other passengers' hair and attempted to open an aircraft door on board an Arkia Israeli Airlines flight en route from Tel Aviv to Paris. He was restrained so the aircraft continued to Paris as planned where he was arrested.
29 MAY: SAN DIEGO A man, who had just been released from prison, managed to board a United Airlines flight to Los Angeles without a ticket by walking through an alarmed emergency door inside the terminal and joining the line of passengers boarding the flight on the tarmac. The crew identified the stowaway prior to departure.

2 APRIL: RIYADH Reports emerge that a Saudi woman allegedly attacked an Egyptian airline stewardess and bit her finger as she felt that the flight attendant was showing too much interest in her husband. The police were called when the flight landed in Riyadh.
7 APRIL: HONOLULU A United Airlines flight, en route from Sydney to Los Angeles, diverted to Honolulu after an intoxicated passenger had to be restrained.

12 APRIL: MANILA An Air Philippines flight preparing to depart for Puerto Princesa City was delayed after a passenger, Imam Hamadsuru Lapungan, and six of his colleagues, joked that they were going to blow up the plane. Lapungan was allegedly upset that he was not able to sit next to his colleagues and, as an observant Muslim, was not happy to be seated next to a woman.
13 APRIL: GUANGZHOU, CHINA Hainan Airlines passengers, angry about weather-induced delays, stormed the tarmac at Baiyun International Airport in protest.
16 APRIL: HONG KONG A 52-year-old Filipino man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Cathay Pacific air stewardess on a flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong.
17 APRIL: SIMFERPOL, UKRAINE An AeroSvit Airlines flight, en route from Dubai to Kiev, diverted to Simferpol when an intoxicated passenger hit a flight attendant.
17 APRIL: LOS ANGELES Eugene Lin, 61, was arrested when he allegedly grabbed a United Airlines flight attendant’s arm and shoulder when she said that his carry-on would have to be checked into the hold. The incident happened in the jetway.
18 APRIL: CHARLOTTE John Edward Bare was denied entry to Costa Rica when his US Airways flight from Charlotte landed. Bare had allegedly sexually
assaulted a flight attendant and, later in the flight, touched the two 14-year-old girls he was seated next to. Arriving back in the USA, he was charged with simple assault against a minor and interfering with flight crew.
