4 APRIL: NUNAVUT, CANADA Ezekiel Mucktar, 31, is alleged to have caused significant damage to an unattended Canadian North Dash-8 which he broke into overnight at Pond Inlet Airport. Only soft drink cans and hand sanitizer were stolen from the aircraft.
5 APRIL: SRINAGAR Militants carried out a grenade attack on an airport-approach road.
7 APRIL: SANAA, YEMEN The international airport was closed after heavily armed gunmen loyal to Yemen's ousted President attacked the airport with anti-aircraft guns.
8 APRIL: PAPUA A Twin Otter plane, operated by Trigana Air, was attacked by an armed gang shortly after it touched down at Mulia Airport, killing Leiron Kogoya (a journalist) and injuring four other people onboard, including the pilot and first officer.
16 APRIL: BARAHONA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Thieves stole large quantities of piping from a water pumping station at Maria Montez International Airport.
22 APRIL: THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, INDIA Thieves attempted to steal cartons containing electric fans and vacuum cleaners from the cargo facilities at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The perpetrators ran away when airport employees raised the alarm. Sukhil, 23, Prasad, 23, Rajesh Zavier, 22, and Sibin, 22, were arrested a few days later.
23 APRIL RIO DE JANEIRO Armed robbers entered the offices of the company that administers the car park in Terminal 2 of Galeao Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport. They held four employees hostage and escaped with an unspecified amount of money.
26 APRIL: SEPANG, MALAYSIA An AirAsia air hostess was attacked at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal car park. A man grabbed her, forced her into her car and attempted to molest her.
30 APRIL: MAZAR SHARIF
One person was killed, and two wounded, in an explosion in a garbage dump near Mazar Sharif Airport.
14 APRIL: NARATHIWAT, THAILAND A 5kg homemade bomb, concealed in a metal box and triggered by a mobile phone signal, exploded near the entrance to Narathiwat Airport.
1 MAY: SYDNEY A man stole a rental car at Sydney Airport, crashed it into a minibus and then tried to steal another car being driven by a chauffeur. The chauffeur resisted and was stabbed in the leg at Sydney Airport.
INCIDENTS
7 APRIL: ULYANOVSK, RUSSIA Communist groups protested against a proposed NATO transit hub being established at Vostochny Airport in Ulyanovsk. 1,500 people gathered in Moscow’s Pushkin Square, while smaller rallies were held in many regional cities; 16 of the protesters set up a campsite at Vostochny Airport itself and then began a hunger strike.
15 MAY: TOGIAK, ALASKA Four privately-owned aircraft were vandalised at Togiak Airport, causing $1,000 worth of damage to the windows. Additionally, approximately $4,000 worth of goods was stolen from the aircraft.
25 MAY: COTTONWOOD, ARIZONA Richard Thomas Butts Jr., 26, allegedly tried to set fire to a medical helicopter at the Verde Valley Medical Centre. He allegedly threw a burning beer bottle, filled with an accelerant, at the Guardian Air Bell helicopter Model 407, "Angel 3", which resulted in damage to the front fuselage, windshield, cockpit and control panel.
9 MAY: SEPANG, MALAYSIA
An AirAsia air hostess was molested at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal car park as she reported for duty early in the morning. This was the fourth such incident in as many weeks.
