health lecture series in Hamden and along the Shoreline is being offered by Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH).


These sessions provide the chance to learn about important topics and speak with health care professionals and physi- cians from YNHH and Yale Schools of Medicine and Nurs- ing. Programs are free. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Lectures take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Among the June events are: “Why Is My Baby Screaming? Is Acid Reflux a Possibility?” with Uma Phatak, MD, on Tuesday, June 5 (Guilford); “Exercise: The Running Paradox” with Thomas Brady, physical therapist on Thursday, June 7 (North Branford); “Great News: Advances in Heart Failure Therapy” led by Lavanya Bellumkonda, MD, on Tuesday, June 12 (Guilford and Thursday, September 6 in Hamden); and, “Hip Smart and Healthy,” in which Michael Leslie, MD will discuss options for dealing with hip pain, replacement, pre- and post-operative care and new techniques on Thursday, June 14 (Hamden and Tuesday, September 11 in Guilford). Fall lectures include “Better Foot and Ankle Care”; “Dia- betes 101 for the Newly Diagnosed Diabetic”; “Peripheral Arterial Disease: New Solutions to an Old Problem’; “Bar- rett’s Esophagus: News that is Hard to Swallow” in October; “Kidney Failure: Hemodialysis Maintenance”; and, “Road to Recovery: Cardiac Rehabilitation and Proper Nutrition.”

New Location for Everlastings Organic Salon

rlene Bouley, owner of Everlastings, is delighted to announce the salon’s expan- sion and move to a new locale during the first week of June. Remaining on the Connecticut Shoreline, Everlastings, a certi- fied Ayurvedic salon, will now be located at 2614 Boston Post Road in the Carriage House at Gatehouse West in Guilford. In addition to ongoing offerings such as organic hair color and services, organic retail items and healing gemstone jewelry, new services in the expanded space will include: a wig and hairpiece shop for men, women and children (for medical reasons and/or fashion); a wellness center offering Ayurvedic facials, massages and champissage (traditional Indian head massage therapy); and a brand new line of shampoos, con- ditioners and hair serums created by Bouley and made by an Ayurvedic practitioner, which will be sold exclusively at the salon. With an aim to offer a healing place where clients can find multiple avenues toward holistic well-being, Bouley is also seeking holistic nutritional practitioners and another experienced professional hairstylist who wants to work in an
