Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center, Grand Rapids, Mich. The $65 million facility was funded when Joan Kroc, the late widow of McDonald’s Corp. founder Ray Kroc, gave the Salvation Army $1.6 billion to build community centers in 38 cities throughout the U.S. The building incorporates a 400-seat performing arts center, classrooms and confer- ence areas for tutoring, skills development and job training. Dri-Design supplied 22,000 square feet of its 0.080-aluminum wall panels fi nished in Bright Silver for the facility, which includes an indoor swimming pool, fi tness center, basketballs courts and climbing wall, along with soccer fi elds, playgrounds and a baseball diamond.
