Communications innovations from KeTech

KeTech Systems exhibited a number of its innovative systems that provide railway operators with cost-saving solutions in a budget-conscious environment. Infrarail saw the launch of the company’s new Ke3G product, which provides long line communications as a cost-effective alternative to installing traditional cabled solutions. By providing IP connectivity over 3G/GSM wireless networks, the system is ideal for applications where physical connection – for example ADSL or trackside cabling – is problematic or unavailable. Also new were KeAddress, an intelligent IP-based public address system for railway applications, and KeGuard, a suite of asset security products for uses ranging from securing remote locations and equipment to container tracking, fleet management and vehicle location systems.

Abacus unveils new

LED open area lighting New from Abacus Lighting was the Quantum LED luminaire designed for car parks and open area lighting. Abacus says this is the first complete LED product for such applications, featuring a modular construction around LED light modules rather than LEDs placed in an existing fixture. With its market turning more to LED light sources, Abacus intends Quantum to replace its Orion 4 as its lead product in this segment. The company says that the demand for LED lighting is a reaction by businesses to pressure to reduce carbon emissions and costs. Benefits include 50,000 hours of life – some two and a half times that of conventional light sources, reduced maintenance and greater flexibility in use, as LEDs can be dimmed by around 60% compared to the 15-20% of traditional systems. The new Quantum lantern will be available from August.
