AVID TECHNOLOGY introduced new “asset-based” workflows that address themes including cloud-based production and multi-platform
distribution at NAB. Avid Interplay Sphere is a cloud-based system for newsrooms, aimed at enabling journalists to create and file stories on the go, from a mobile device. The journalist could edit with NewsCutter or Media Composer, and access stock footage and clips, as well as file stories, through connectivity with an Avid server that has the Interplay Sphere software. “For news outlets, it’s all about being first to air with breaking stories. Interplay Sphere gives broadcasters the edge they’re looking for,” said Dana Ruzicka, VP, segment and product marketing at Avid. “Now, journalists can create and edit complete stories where and when they’re happening by combining footage of breaking news at the scene with Interplay Sphere-connected assets back at the newsroom.”
Among its other announcements,
Avid presented three server and storage products with increased storage capacity and new features aimed at improving production workflows. These include the AirSpeed 5000 video server, Avid ISIS 2000 near-line storage solution, and Avid ISIS 7000 v4.0 with doubled storage capacity. AirSpeed 5000 starts at $43,500, and Avid ISIS 7000 starts at $125,000. ISIS 2000 pricing and availability was not announced. www.avid.com
