remembering that this figure is likely to be the amount that she will spend on beauty treatments getting ready for the big day and hasn’t taken into account how much she and the bridal party might spend for months in advance prepping for the wedding and getting themselves in tip- top condition -there’s still further money to be made from a bride!
Perfect packages
One of the best ways to attract bridal clients is to guide them by putting together packages. This way, they aren’t left stumped as to what they should be doing before the big. Ideally you should tailor each package to the individual client, asking them what they would like to achieve and what you think they should be doing to achieve this.
Bridal packages can be very lucrative to a salon, but it’s important that they are thought through, promoted correctly and integrated into the salon well. Ideally, you should be talking to your clients months in advance about facial treatments and home care. Packages for waxing, tanning, nails, lashes and make-up can be made for the week leading up to the wedding.
“In a bridal package, you should include as much as you can in order to entice the client to book at an affordable price,” says Audrey Heffernan, Head Trainer at Hennessy Hair & Beauty Supplies. “Various different packages should be made available to cater for everybody. For the ladies you could include a relaxing facial, manicure, pedicure, eyebrow shaping, make-up, leg wax and back massage. You can use these treatments for a tailor made package to suit all clients at a discounted price.
“For male clients you could include chest wax, back wax, eyebrow wax and a facial into the package,” says Audrey.
Multiple booking incentives can also be offered so that the bride talks the rest of the bridal party into a regime. Plus, don’t forget many bride and grooms will be jetting off on honeymoon after the wedding day, which means they will be looking to be prepped and preened for this too, so holiday treatments are something you might want to look at including in your packages too.

sixmonths to go
At the six month mark, many brides may still be quite blasé and not realise that they should have already started on their beauty journey. “Now is the time for brides create a skin care schedule, including monthly skin treatments and an at-home regimen,” says Annet.
You should take a look at your clients’ skin, looking out for any acne scarring, sun damage or problem areas, and discuss with your client regular in-salon facial treatments, as well as advising them on the right home care regime. This is also a great time for retailing; when a client will be stocking up on the products needed to start their regime at home too.
Many brides understand that the obvious things such as make-up, nails and lashes need to be in top condition so that they look as groomed as possible; the condition of their complexion is often something that gets pushed down the priority list as time gets tight and yet it is essential to get this aspect right if imperfections are to be minimised and make-up is to look flawless in the photos - the main memento of their day.
If brides are new to professional skin treatments, Annet suggests starting with a deep-cleaning option that will purge skin of debris and congestion and impurities. She also recommends using a clay masque to eliminate debris and congestion from the skin.
The stress of planning a wedding can also lead to sensitive skin. Therefore a
more gentle approach is often required. Two key aspects to address for a bride and their entourage is clear skin (brides are always terrified of spots on the big day!) with refined texture, and secondly deep hydration and rejuvenation is needed to ensure a smooth finish on the day.
American Idol tour make-up artist, Monica McAlpin, also suggests that brides add a gentle exfoliant to their regular skin care routine and to further combat age-spots or sun-spots it’s important that they protect skin with an SPF each day, even in theWinter months.
Dermalogica recommend their Sebum Clearing Masque to eliminate congestion on the skin. It is a cooling, refining and deep-cleaning Kaolin and Bentonite clay masque that purifies, absorbs excess surface oil and helps to prevent breakouts.
If your client is also happy to introduce an exfoliant into their regime, Monica recommends Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. “The natural rice bran in Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant will help lighten pesky post-inflammatory spots and hyperpigmentation.” It microfoliates dulling debris and instantly leaves skin noticeably smoother and brighter.
For the whole bridal party, including the men, Virginie Claire offers Phyt’s Multivita Facial, which can enhance radiance, tone, texture and firming. It has been nicknamed the Bridal Facial, but it
