Dear Irish Beauty... Star Letter

Dear Irish Beauty,

I am writing to say what a fabulous time I had at the Irish Beauty Show in March. I have never attended a show in Dublin before as I'd not had transport, but now I can see what I have been missing out on for so many years! I was so pleased that my friend from work was able to drive us, as we bought far too much stuff to get on the train home!

My favourite stands were from OPI and Dermalogica but it was also great to discover smaller Irish companies too. I even got interviewed for a film by Donna Taylor from the magazine - wow! What a brilliant day - can't wait until next year!

Marina Colethorn, Dingle

Ed: I'm thrilled you had such a great day, Marina. Keep your eye out for this year's show video on YouTube, and make a date in your diary for 3rd & 4th March 2013!

As this month’s star letter Marina wins a year’s free membership to AIT. Dear IB,

I have to say how interesting I found your Expert Panel discussion on the pros and cons of using discount deal websites (IB April). I have been considering working with one of these companies to try and increase my customer base during quieter periods, and I found the information really helpful, in particular Suzanne Alcock Thompson's excellent break down of how these work! I was surprised by how little revenue these could actually generate for you when you take into account discounts and fees. I've now decided to invest in my own website and email system instead.

Name and address supplied Dear Irish Beauty,

I wondered why there weren't any competitions at this year's show? I always enjoy watching them and was considering entering this year.

By email

Ed: Thanks for your feedback. We haven't run competitions at our shows before but it's certainly something we'll take on board for the future.

If other readers would be interested in nail competitions or make-up competitions, get in touch and we’ll see what we can do!

To have your say on our letters page, email the Ed at Melissa@aitireland.com. Each month the Star Letter will win a top prize provided by Associated Irish Therapists, so get writing now!

Dear Irish Beauty,

Does Irish Beauty have a Twitter page? I've been searching for it and can't seem to find it!

Name and address supplied

Ed: We certainly do! Follow us at @IrishBeautyMag. You can also follow Irish Beauty Editor Melissa Dennis at @MelissaED1. What's more, you can 'Like' us on Facebook and keep up-to- date with the latest news from inside and outside the IB offices!

Dear Editor,

I wondered how I would go about writing for your magazine. I am a beauty therapist with 15 years' experience, and feel I have a lot to share with other therapists.

Kimberley Dale,Waterford

Ed: Hi Kimberley, we are always looking for people to join our Expert Panel; as long as you have experience in different areas and are happy to share your views, then we'd love you - and any other keen experts - to join us!

Dear Irish Beauty,

I wanted to say a big 'thank you' to the team at Associated Irish Therapists (AIT). I knew that insurance was important for my new salon but was totally baffled by getting different quotes and comparing the policies. The team at AIT were really patient with me when I saw them at the show in Dublin, and I feel much more confident that I have the right insurance for my little business. I would definately recommend them.

By email I love Irish Beauty magazine because... Linda Lorrell, beauty therapist from Cork.

"What better way is there to keep up-to-date with the new products on the beauty market whilst also getting some great business advice! I look forward to my magazine every month!"
