...UK leading demolition firm Coleman & Company has added six more Volvo’s to its fleet – including the UK’s first short radius ECR305C’s.

Deconstruction. It is a technical approach to dismantling any type of structure that enables material recovery and recycling to be carried out to full effect. For Great Barr, Birmingham-based demolition contractor Coleman & Company, it is the most practiced of three popular demolition methods that the firm relies on. And in doing so, it continues to exceed customer expectations by delivering the most sympathetic approaches for the most sensitive of projects for its clients.

“Demolition is no longer a question of how quickly something can be knocked down and swept aside,” says Managing Director Mark Coleman. “For us, the process is about continually improving our safety, environmental and operational performance, while growing responsibly in a manner that enhances our reputation and strengthens relationships to deliver long-term success.” As one of the UK’s leading specialist demolition companies working throughout the UK, Coleman & Company strives to stay one-step ahead when it comes to safety, productivity and industry best practice. With a business built on reputation, Coleman & Company specialises in complex projects within high-risk environments. The firm is also capable of recovering up to 97% of materials from its demolition projects, having recently invested £6m in redeveloping an urban quarry at the business’ headquarters in Shady Lane, Birmingham.

Its approach has given the company a string of accolades that it is understandably proud of. At the recent World Demolition Awards in Amsterdam, Coleman & Company won the Civils Demolition Award and the Contract of the Year Award, while taking a highly commended accolade for its ability to execute explosives-based demolition work. The Contract of the Year Award was in recognition of its work at Birmingham New Street station. Major refurbishment and modernisation - involving significant remodelling of the existing station – saw Coleman & Company handle an extremely complex project in a seemingly straightforward manner. Impressive stuff for a firm started 50 years ago by Mark’s grandfather, Jack Coleman, who was an excavation contractor. Two generations later, the business remains wholly independent, but has evolved into a multi-disciplined, award winning, specialist contractor.
