precision finishing through a minimal, yet consis- tent amount of blade force and the heavy-duty travel pedals, comparable to those on heavier exca- vators, provide precision and an ease of operation. The machines feature Volvo’s industry-leading comfortable cab for less fatigue and more produc- tion. The ergonomically-designed cab offers greater leg and foot room, making it one of the most spacious in its category.
And looking after the day to day running of Advance Construction Scotland’s plant fleet of some 400 items mobile plant is plant manager Gareth Mollan. “Our initial batch of Volvo machines have been extremely reliable and have become a firm favourite with our operators,” he said. “Equally the product is very user friendly when it comes to routine service and maintenance.”
More Volvo’s for Advance Construction Scotland
Blantyre based Advance Construction Scotland has purchased five additional Volvo EC55C and six Volvo ECR88 Plus’ for its plant fleet joining the initial batch of EC55’s purchased just over a year ago.
“We decided to purchase our first batch of Volvo EC55C’s based on their sound reputation and strong third party references,” commented Advance Construction’s Managing Director, Seamus Shields. “And it’s proved to be a good decision for us. The machines have performed faultlessly, they give a good return on the investment and not least have been welcomed by our machine operators, so as we needed to expand our fleet it wasn’t a difficult decision to opt for the Volvo product once again,” he continued.
In total, five EC55C’s and six ECR88 Plus compact excavators have been ordered which are incremental to Advance Construction’s fleet of 75 excavators and continue to be the ideal size of machine – well adapted for working on the typical projects the company is involved in where space is a premium but yet good reach and all round performance are required. The larger 8.8 tonne machines are new to Advance Construction and were selected following a successful demonstration and trials carried out on one of the Company’s current site development projects. “We found the ECR88 to be a very good all-rounder, with good dig depth and reach, the ability to load lorries with ease coupled to a high degree of flexibility and manoeuvrability,” said Mr Shields.
